So sorry to hear you've been ill. Being sick with the flu really sucks. Fingers crossed I don't get it this year, it literally LAYS ME DOWN!!! I would think it would be harder to bounce back from the flu s/p WLS. Glad your feeling better.
I haven't been on here in a week or 2 at least. Busy with work, family & life in general. But, have been in touch with Dr. Q's office of course. Trying to "get all my ducks in a row".
Question....I know everyone is different, everyone's pain tolerance is different, and everyone's occupation's physical requirements are different but, just kinda looking for a "general" concensus I guess. Just a guess-timate, what is the time frame for returning to work based on YOUR s/p WLS experience related to MY occupation. I am a RN Case Manager. Nothing physically demanding. I "self-schedule" meaning I work when I want to. No clocking in or out or hurry to get to work on time. I just have to see a minimum of 30 patients a week, average 5-6 a day. My days consist of driving around the county making home visits to patients that have been discharged from the hospital for any number of reasons. Physically, just walking from the vehicle into & out of the patient's home carrying my nursing bag (that is not heavy at all, very light), and getting their vitals. Majority consists of talking, making phone calls, computer work. May have 2-3 "basic" wound dressing changes a week.
My job is more mental rather than physical for sure. Personally, I would think I could be able to return to work the day after I return home. Providing everything goes off without a hitch and in a perfect world. lol. And of course, getting the liquids & protein in like I'm supposed to every day.
What is your concensus?
Thank you all that replied to my post. I'm presently conducting research on my options and plan to have surgery in May or June 2016.
Hi - I started a website that talks about only Dr. Rodriguez and BeLite Weight. It has all the information I've compiled about Dr. Rodriguez and his team, as well as the hospital. Hope that answers some of your questions. I put in all the steps I took with them. My surgery is in 9 days so I'll post even more as I make my way to Mexico and take pics once I'm there. :)
Hi All,
I am heading to TJ, Mexico on Sunday for a band to sleeve revision with Dr. Ponce de Leon on Monday, January 25th. I am traveling alone, and wonder who else might be traveling for surgery that day.
Thank you!
Samantha
I am approved with Dr. Rodriguez in Juarrez,Mexico march 11. I have been trying to research him more just to be cautious. Have you heard anything about them?

Thats a really good question. I'd be more worried about my wallet and passport, but still... You will have a locker/drawers of sorts and I can only really think that you'd want to put those in a bag in there. I don't suppose there really is a good place. Maybe with the nurse's station, or even better, I'd contact the hospital administration and ask them specifically about a storage locker. Me, personally, I'd just put them in a bag and hope for the best. Awful, I know, but that's the best I can think of. Let us know what you find out.
Hi, there, I am very interested in going to Tijuana, and have researched some options but I would like to know if anybody could please give me more based on their experience in Mexico.. I want to make the right choice PLEASE!! some one HELP ME OUT!!
Anyone here sleeved in Mexico on the same day as their spouse? Just wondering, my husband and I are planning for May of this year. Wanted to know what it was like for anyone else, or do you think this is a terrible idea?
I,personally ,would have at least a couple of days between each surgery. Each of you need to be alert Nd aware when the other is having their surgery, unless there will be a third person there to help out/ speak for you.
No special support system. He was well versed by me - I had an RNY in 2008. He met with their dietitian during the pre-op visit the morning prior to surgery, as well as their psychologist. The processes vary with different surgeons and facilities from what I have read here over the years. My husband went to Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta, surgery was at Hospital Amerimed. Everything was top notch. There was a lady from Manitoba there at the same time who went down on her own - and I do know of several people who have gone on their own with no problems.
