I changed my screen name after reading a post on the main board that anyone can search your name off of a search engine & see all the posts & responses that you have submitted here on ObesityHelp.com. I checked it & they were right. My screen name was abbreviated, but still close enough. My real name is Kristy, but my friends call me Kris. I don't mind sharing my whole life story with you guys, but let's face it some of this stuff is personal & I don't want people that may not understand my point of view being entertained by most posts. I thought I would just give you all a heads up. Thanks.

Click on update your profile & you can update your information there. You don't lose your pictures or text or anything. It just changes your name.

Absolutely Kris!!! I know what you mean about the whole GOOGLE thing. You can even google you phone number and get a suprising result. It happened to me too but I wasn't suprised by it at all. Some poor souls do not understand the internet (I am far from an expert) and the fact that they don't call it the "world wide web, www'' for nothin' and are totally taken aback when they find out this is *not* a private site. It is a free site too so there is not a lot of recourse, lol! Anyway, it is really good that you posted this. My name is just my real first name and my real middle name. I just recently removed my city though and that helps. The funny thing is that I have not shared this surgery with hardly anyone in real life and on the net you can find pics of me with my kids and all kinds of personal details in my profile. If someone stumbles across this site and finds it all it must mean they are here for a reason, hehe!!! Kinda like running into someone at your psychologist's office or something..."what are you doing here?" , "well, what are YOU doing here!?" Ya know what I mean? haha. People could always use the formula for their porn star name. I think it is your middle name and the street you grew up on. Mine would be Mae Texas (east texas rd). or I could use another street and be Mae Plum. hehe Have a great day!!! Molly

Kris, When I first joined OH I used my whole name. I had read about this several months back, so I went in and changed to just my initials. It is sad that some peoples only life is spying on others private lives, but that is the world we live in. Speaking of google, did you know that if you type your phone number in the search bar, no dashes, it will pull up you and your address and will even print out a map to your house? Yep! Unless you are unlisted, or go in and request they remove you! Thanks for this very important post! Genie

I did not know that. Another reason for me to be glad I have an unlisted number. I vent in my profile about my family & people I work with. I would hate for them to get nosy & find my profile.
