Hi everyone, Any advice to someone going down to TJ alone? How is the Hotel Lucerna? Is there any place to go shopping or to the beach that is safe? Should I go on a liquid pre-op diet? He is not requiring one for me but, I'm thinking of doing it anyway. Thanks, Kel

Kel, I am seriously considering Dr. Ortiz also, but don't have a date yet. But I have decided I'm going to go on the liquid pre-op diet even if he doesn't require it. The reasoning for it is sound, and I want to go into surgery under the best possible conditions. For the same reason, I am taking a multivitamin every day (and iron because I was anemic) and have cut out caffeine (at least until after surgery) as recommended by my nutritionist. Figure it can only help! Good luck on your surgery! Can't wait for mine! Donna C

Hi Kel, Losing weight before surgery is always a good idea. My doctor asked for a high protein low fat diet. It helped shrink my liver for surgery, this makes it less risky. The weather is not beach weather yet in the west coast. I am sure you will be OK going alone and the doctor's staff will take care of you. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.
