What great news!  I'm seriously considering Dr. Rodriguez for a sleeve sometime in the next few months.  Can you answer a few things about surgery for me?  Do they use leg compression stockings or those air-pump thingies that keep your legs circulating blood during the surgery?  And do they do a leak test?  I'm meeting with my PCP to see if she will still see my if I get the surgery in Mexico.  She's the one who wants me to do it in the first place, so I feel it would be hypocritical for her to say no, but then again, she probably has her biases as well.  How are you doing now?  Any complications later on?

Sure I can,

The hospital use the leg compression stockings that go up to your mid thigh area. Yes, they do a leak test before you leave the hospital, which is a gross taste. I am doing great! I had ZERO complications and everything went well. I never once had any problems. Until now I'm still doing wonderful. In one of my post to someone else I mentioned that I have lost 74lbs. The reason I'm back on here is because my daughter just had the sleeve and she had it in the states and she has been feeling nauseaed everyday for 3 weeks. It is a different type of surgery and the people I talked with that had the sleeve went through the same thing. But, as for me Dr. Rodriguez if a very good doctor and the hospital was the best as well.

I am considering revision surgery with Dr. Rodriguez in Mexico. Can you give an update on how you are doing now?

Thanks

You didn't need a passport?  I thought I would have to get one before I could go down.

There was no passport need to or from Juarez, just my Drivers Lisence and Birth Certificate and I on my way I went!

Hi Sammy,

i made my plans for surgery quite quickly to fit in with work, and then I did the research.  I wish I had maybe talked to more than one company to get a sense of overall service.  I had VSG with Dr. Cabrera at Mi Doctor in TJ.  Company was Medical Tourism, one of the less well known.  Luckily everything went well for me.  Which surgery have you decided on?

VSG on 11/06/14

I was originally favoring the Lap Band, but after more research, I believe VSG is what's for me. Though I don't like the idea of having my stomach cut out, it seems to be less aggravating than the band, plus no plumbing is rerouted like the RNY, or DS.

Jenn, how much did your surgery cost?  I understand the US sites are significantly more expensive than the MX sites.

VSG a good choice.  Less stress on your body to heal than RNY, & you can revise to RNY if needed in future. Please consider a 2nd driver, you may not feel up to long driving days post-op.  I had some post-op brain fog as well that would have dulled my reaction times, if driving.  That was something I didn't expect.  Think some of it was due to the diet change, low blood sugar.  Let us know how you get on!
