bringing medicine back from TJ

Has anyone brought any medicine back from Mexico? I thought while I was there I would stock up on a few things like my ambien since my insurance wont cover more than 14 pills at a time so it gets pricey. I have read that alot of seniors head to TJ to get their meds. I would be afraid of getting in trouble at the border.

Your surgeon can give you a prescription for the meds you buy. That's what ours did. We then had no problems at the border and they do ask if you are taking medications back when you cross.

But do you need to show a RX from an american doctor also?

No you don't need a RX from an American doctor we were fine crossing with our Mexican surgeons order. I didn't realize at the time we could have just ask the pharmacy we were in for one.
