DO NOT USE JERASULEM HOSPITAL, FYI.

This is totally false information and misleading. I went to Jerusalem Hospital and had a toally positive experience. I went with the Gastivie Sleeve, however I do think the duodenal swiich is a better choice and of all hospitals this is the one I will be going back too.

It is amazing in the post above, I can not copy and paste.............from this post to make my point. Yes, this is a clinic. A very nice Clinic. After Surgery I was taken back to a 4 star hotel and had a roommate for a week. The Nurses were on call 24-7. And I have to say very educated and nice male nurses who treated me and everyone else with respect and kindness. Hmm..........I cannot spell check here. It is almost like you guys have the above posted in stone. This lady above is not to honest. The rooms are clean, I did not see and ants. The recovery house is not not dirty. They do what they do very well. Yes, you are a whiny baby and in my opinion you got the best price for $7000.  Tijuana is not an unsafe place. I found the people very pleasant. I guess it depends on you attitude. . $7000 is a deal of a life time and you did say you made ith thru and could not have afforded it at any other place in the States. I just do not get waht you are complaining about. Next time pay the $20,000 and have it your way. You are fortunate to be alive and hav a life changing experience. That is the I feel. It has totally erased my depression for I thought about food all the time. Now I am not hungry and I can enjoy just about any food or drink without guilt..

I am already reading the above. I will have to be approved by a moderater. Truth is truth. Elizabeth Winter

Wow really?  So because one person had a bad experience that means everyone else did too?  I had mine at Jerusalem in Jun 2012 and went from a tight size 18 to a 0 in 6 months.  Everywhere I looked stated clearly that the clinic was in a strip mall, so that's not a surprise for anyone that truly did their research.

The recovery hotel is temporary and hardly "tiny" it was actually a very nice condo style.  True there were lots of people there but I slept the whole time so who cares?  I went to the Hotel Ticuan the next day anyway.

As for the sister, the doctor was right, she wasn't a patient so the patients needs come first.  I just shake my head at people who are adults that need to take someone with them

It was TIJUANA for cripes sake and 1/4th of the cost.  Did anyone truly expect to see the same type of facility at the Mayo Clinic?

I would do the surgery 100 times over again.

I had my surgery at Jerusalem Hospital, Dr Almanza... never looked back.  Researched hospital and knew exactly what to expect from small and Very clean clinic..friendly and helpful staff..followed all instructions exactly and had NO problems.  My cousin travelled with me and they let us know up front that we would be seperayed first night of surgery and recovery hotel could not have been better.  My cousin had same surgery in states six months before me and was very impressed with my surgery and after care. She even said I got the care she paid way more for and she got the short end of the stick in the states.   I have recommended Dr Almanza and the hospital to everyone I know.

I'm glad your alright. And so sorry you went through that horrible ordeal. I've checked the Internet and yours seem to be the only post telling people about your experience.  For 4900 it's not worth losing your life over or risking your sister coming up missing. I know the its expensive in the states I'm having mines done by hopefully Dr. A riel Ortiz

He has received lots of recommendations and honors and Oprah Winfrey recommended him as aswell I know he charges about $7000 but he is very good I hear at what he does. I suggest people do a little research find out *****commend a good Dr out in Mexico from in the states it's not your life.

VSG on 07/10/14 with

There are negative reviews of this place all over OH and the internet. If you are self pay, please consider using Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras, MX. The hospital is a real hospital, the staff is well trained and professional, and the follow up care is excellent. I don't know if he does the DS, but I got VSG there for 8,500 and was pleased with my experience. EVERYTHING except airfare and meals for my husband was included.

Wow, oh wow.  I'm so glad you are okay and safe at home.  I've never heard of this Dr. Almanza as a DS doc, so this concerns me greatly.

I remember reading about their clinic when I was new, and there was a group, whose names sometimes seemed interchangeable, so I'm not sure how many actual surgeons, or if some were using middle names when there was terrible feedback. The names Bettancourt, Almanze, Reyes were among the names but there were more I can't recall.

They had some of the scariest feedback I've ever seen here at OH, most of which doesn't seem to be here any more. I've looked.

This group had some aggressive marketing, which I would see them put a shill poster on the main page here about once or twice a year. I wish more of the old posts were still here. They were like a broken record of the problems at the strip mall "clinica".

Clovers here again aka adrienne. I understand the need to "keep it real" with a pic. and background info..sorta like my FB and Yelp profiles.  I've never had the desire to share commonalities with fellow WLS peeps other than occassionslly asking or  replying to questions in this forum..at home, I don't go out of my way to let it be known that I had the surgery but will gladly discuss one on one my experience if I overhear anyone in my groups talking about it.But yes, I'm real and my experience was with Dr. Almanza at Jerusalem Hospital 2 years ago October 11th..and I'm a happy camper!!
