Yeah David, your body is still recovering from MAJOR surgery and you aren't getting many calories in. Be sure to weigh/measure your food to be sure you don't do harm to your pouch.

Have a great day!

Topic: Back to work yesterday. Surprisingly tired...
 Greetings all,

I had my 2-week follow-up appointment on Friday, and it went well.  Dr. Toder released me back into the wild (ie, told me I could go back to work full-time on Monday), and let me go back to the Y to go swimming again.  Yay!

I went swimming on Sunday, and it was great to be able to stretch my body out in the water, and get some laps in.  I really enjoyed that.  It was worth the wait.

Sunday afternoon, I think I ate a bit to much, and paid the consequence for that (I ate 7oz, which, as it turns out, was to much...)  I was in a lot of pain for a few hours, until it passed.  But I'm doing better now.

Came back to work yesterday.  I was really surprised how quickly I got tired, and how fast my energy ran out.  The morning was okay, but by noon, I was wiped out.  My mid-afternoon, I felt dead on my feet.  I was never so to get home and lay down.  I went to bed at 8:30, and was asleep by 9:00 or so, sleeping until 6:30 this morning (save waking up for about 6-7 trips to the bathroom between midnight and 3am.)

I got to work okay this morning, but my energy went even faster.  I don't know how I even made it to 11am.  I'm still hanging in there, but I'm not sure what's keeping me going.  I could seriously put my head down on my desk, and take a nap.  Kindergarten anyone?

The scale says I lost 3lbs since yesterday.  And one pound each of the two days before that.  I am averaging about 700 calories a day, and about 65 grams of protein.  My caloric deficit is about 3,500 calories a day.

Other than being exhausted, I feel pretty good.  Our employee health office told me, both yesterday and today, that I looked a little pale.  I'm not sure why that is, but, I certainly feel a little pale.

Hope everyone is doing well.  Take care,

-David

 Hi Sasha,

It's nice to hear from someone who's been through the same experience I've been through, so close in time to me.  Dr. Toder did my surgery, too, two weeks ago (March 3rd).  I'm sorry to hear about your hernia, but I'm so glad that she's so thorough, and so cautious.  If there's a better surgeon out there for this procedure, they'd have a hard time proving it to me.

I had the RNY bypass, and I sailed through the surgery, recovery, and hospital-time.  I didn't have any pain, and I really felt very good the whole time.  I came home on the third day, and spent two weeks recovering at home.

I hope your recovery continues to go well, and would enjoy hearing your updates.

Best of luck to you!  Be prepared!  I've dropped twenty pounds since I got home from the surgery!  (slower is fine with me too, but it's really amazing how quickly those early changes come...)

-David

I did it...I survived my gastric sleeve surgery yesterday. It took a lot longer than then expected as Dr. Toder found a hernia on my stomach and needed to fix that too. Yes I am in pain, but its manageable and like you all said walking does help. Today I began my 30cc's of water every hour and am able to keep up so far. Dr. Toder came to see me and said if I can tolerate the protein shake tomorrow then I can most likely go home tomorrow!!! Thanks for all the support, this is a new journey for me and I will need all the support I can get. Thanks, Sasha

Hi, I remember you.   How did the pregnancy go?  I know you weren't expecting it, but I bet it was still a blessing.

There is another book call Women food & God  By Geneen Roth I found it at my local book store. A friend of mine has lost well over 100 pounds using this book alone. I haven't started to read it yet so can't really tell yuo whayt it is about.

Keep on enjoying your liquids! for a little change try mixing cappachino liquid flavored slim fast with a scoop of chocolate protien mix or slim fast 1/2 Cup ice  and whizz away adding milk if needed. tastes like a jamoca shake from Arbys. Easy to sip on something you like!

 Well Deb,
I have to say I don't know what the dietician was thinking saying you have not lost enough at this point. Bull, you look awesome and look at all the weight you have lost in such a short time.  Could you have ever done this on your own in that amount of time?  Don't let them discourage you, you are doing awesome.  Sometimes I think the dieticians need to think before they speak. Remarks like that can really do more harm then good.  I may have been really drugged up that night because I had my surgery on Monday but I could still see how great you were looking, double vision and all. LOL  JK You rock!

Hugs
