I'm glad to hear that, because I was going to suggest that today. I know Connie and I are going camping that weekend (leaving Friday), and won't be back that first Saturday. Excellent!!!
We did a four-mile hike in Acadia this past Saturday...we had a GREAT time...I'm hoping to work us up to something more challenging, in time. :-)

Have you tried Dreamfield's pasta? I don't know if they have it everywhere but they do at Shaws. It's in a black box and it's the only kind of pasta I can do. It is made with carb restricted something or other and is low in carbs and doesn't bloat in my tummy.
I usually make a chili and bring it in the crockpot... Also you could do burgers without the buns.

I did, and the next one is going to be July 9th, to give people the weekend of the 4th to do their thing. Hope to see you and your wife there!

I had a few stiches in ea*****ision, and the Steri-Strips over that. She pulled a few stiches out, at my 2-week post-op follow-up, after she removed the Steri-Strips. I can see where the incisions were, but I have to look for them.
She's amazing. We (Maine) are lucky to have someone of her caliber...There were surgeons from Paris, France, who watched my surgery live via video feed IN Paris. That speaks volumes for her quality of work...

David did you have stiches and steri strips or just the steri strips? My mom is six years out and you could not find her scars if you tried. Dr. Toder is amazing for sure!

Thank you so much David! Really what I needed to hear. I know I can do this and I want to do this so that helps! I love Adele too! My husband and I went and bought new sneakers for our birthdays this weekend! I know I will be busy because I am finishing up a 4 week microbiology course that is very intense and time consuming. The time is going to go by quick. I certainly trust and value Lacey's opinion. I am going to stick to the coral colored book they gave me in the nutrition class and the items in that book and do the best I can. I will absolutely stay completely on track. I am very much the kind of person who lives by if something is going to be done it better be done right and if ever this were true it is now. I am not saying it is not going to be torturous...I'm just saying I will succeed :)

Hi Kristie,
Well, I know Lacy, I have Lacy too. She's great. She's strict, and she expects real effort. Those are great things. I would never contradict her. I take her advice to heart.
That being said, I think if it comes down to losing your mind doing the 2-week liquid diet, and a minor deviation like that (perhaps there would be substitutions you could use instead of cream?) keeps you from going completely off the rails and having a steak dinner with ice cream, I think it's a reasonable compromise. I never asked Lacy about the cheddar cheese soup at Ruby Tuesday...I felt pretty comfortable with it. (It does have large chunks of brocolli in it, but it's VERY easy to pull out). Make an honest effort, do the very best you can, and just take one day at a time.
I'm 101 days post-op now, and even now, I'm not the least bit tempted to eat the things I ate on the liquid diet. I've had my fill, for a long long time.
Try to do the diet without trying those things. If you can't do it, if you get to day ten and you just feel like you're mentally going to split (been there, done that), well, it's better to afford yourself a minor allowance like that, I think, then to go totally off the rails.
Hang in there, though. Make EVERY EFFORT to stay completely on track. And come back and talk to us here EVERY DAY, if you're having a hard time. We'll help you through it. Remember, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. Take some extra exercise time. Go buy a new CD (ADELE is AWESOME!), stay busy. The two weeks will pass, and next thing you know, you'll be seeing Dr. Toder in the OR Room... :-)
We're all here, rootin' for ya'. We've been there. We know it sucks. And we know it's worth doing anyway...
We are almost as excited for you as you are!!!
