I still have three weeks before I can even begin to think about something that isn't liquid but I was wondering if the 2 oz. of meat is supposed to be measured raw or cooked? That could make a big difference!

I  needed to add benefiber to my  protein shakes or coffee  for a long while after surgery.  When i finally was getting enough fiber in i stopped the benefiber.    I also  use milk of magnesia  if needed.     take care

Sounds you  are doing it right  you can  use just   measuring spoons  too.  Just eat slow and  when you start to feel full stop if that is before you  eat all that food.   In the beginning that is a lot of food and  you need to take your time and eat protein first.

Sounds like you are doing  fantastic  keep it up!!!!

I am following the plan. 2 ozs protein and 1 TBS of soft veggie and 1 TBS potato or other "side".  I weigh my protein on my 2 ozs on my food scale and it seems like ALOT. Is there a different way I should be measuring the 2 ozs? Should I put it in a measuring cup? I am FREAKING out because I don't want to screw this up!

What's worth the PRIZE is ALWAYS worth the FIGHT!

The first thing to try if possible ( I know its not easy) is to increase your fluid intake. After that they would look at a dulcolax or colace. Hope this helps :)

If you're a litlte lucky, you'll get the window-bed...it's quieter (the nurses don't have to walk through your space to help your roommate...), and if you're REALLY lucky, you'll have a sweet young girl with dark hair and eyes named Casey as your tech...she's a real sweetheart.  She took AWESOME care of both my wife and myself after each of our surgeries.  She was FANTASTIC, and took the BEST care of both of us.  I'm not kidding...if you have her, you will have a good stay...

(...and if you do...tell her David & Connie Reed said Hello, and let her know we're STILL talking about how good she was to us...to anybody who will listen...)

Thanks David! I figured since I have heard its pretty noisy at night up there I would have an easier time falling asleep to the tv than the noise. I do have an Ipod and i will bring that with me too :)

Hi there!

Yes, the TV's in the rooms DO have jacks, and they take those 1/8th in mini-plug jacks...so any standard MP3 player headphone, etc, will work fine.  Incidentally, I took my MP3 player to listen too, because, frankly, they have a lousy channel selection...so if you have an MP3 player, load that up with some tunes, because you might wish you had that.  It REALLY helped me sleep when my neighbor was noisy at night (all night, EVERY night...)  But, I slept like a baby when I turned the MP3 player and and chilled...  :-)
