One thing my surgeon made clear to me is that after WLS, you will have fewer BM's, one reason being that you will be eating a lot less. Are you feeling like you have to go, but nothing will come out? If so, maybe try a suppository; that can get things moving. I had to use a stool softener for a long time after my surgery (about a year after), and I had to add fiber (like Benefiber, or similar things) to my shakes.

If you ever get to the place where you haven't had a BM for a while, PLUS it hurts when you eat, call your doctor right away. This happened to me, and I had a bowel obstruction & had to be hospitalized. Fortunately, I didn't need surgery; IV fluids and a three-day stay at the hospital did the trick. Good luck!

Topic: RE: CMMC has anyone had surgery from Dr.Loggins?
I have had surgery with Jamie Loggins, and he is really wonderful. I also have 3 friends who have had RNY's with him, and they are all doing wonderfully. I would recommend him in a heartbeat. His staff is wonderful, and helped me re-wire my brain when it comes to eating. I am just over two years out, and have hi my target weight (I've lost over 140 lbs). Dr. Loggins has a great bedside manner, and he and his staff are a great source of encouragement!

I also did a lot of searching, met with a couple doctors, went running out of one extremely crazy busy office, lol.  I'm extremely satisfied with the professionalism, compassion and organized way things are taken care of at CMMC!!!!  Day Two of Liquid Diet, I've lost 4 lbs!!

I'm on day one of the liquid diet and feel awful.  I gave up regular coffee gradually 6 mos ago as instructed.  I was told that decaf is fine both pre & post op, but never caffene as it can cause stomach ulcers!

I'm having surgery on the 18th with Dr. Loggins!  The Central Maine Medical Center's Lewiston Bariatrics Teams is awesome.  They are a dedicated clinic and are really thorough.  My insurance is one of "those" that requires 6 months of nutrition visits and I've hated every moment of the wait!  I started the Liquid Diet today and feel like I'm starving and I'm soooo nauseaus...............Can't wait for surgery day!

EMMC was great! Everything went very smooth. I was initially with a really loud patient and thankfully within hours she was moved to a different floor and I was moved over to the window side. Ironically my new roommate ended up being a woman named Kristy who was also from Waterville and who had the same surgery with Dr. Toder right after she did mine! So it was PERFECT. we got to share a lot of moans and groans and swapped numbers and may carpool up to some support group meetings at some point. we'll see.

I am feeling pretty good. The gas is steadily leaving me (tmi!) I have A TON of support and basically have no responsibilities with my kids or the house or anything for the next three weeks and then I have the rest of the summer to relax with my kiddos so I am very grateful for that!

The weather was the least of my concerns when I was in the hospital. I am kind of bummed today though that my mom is taking all the kids to the beach and I am staying home :(

Enjoy your birthday/fourth of july weekend camping with your wife!
