you could always set up something locally for a group. wouldn't have a nutritionist... but a group of 5 + post surgery people... go for coffee or water :) just give opportunity to talk about positive experiences or you fears... nice to get together with others who have this in common.
Best of luck Carrie

We have one in Rockland, if you're interested in coming.  I know it's still aways for you, but, it's a nice little group.  If you're interested, let me know, I'll send you the particulars...

Wouldn't it be nice if EMMC started a support group in Waterville or even skowhegan?  Im not saying I wouldn't ever go up to the ones in Bangor, but they are affiliated with Inland Hospital in Waterville and it seems like there are a lot of people from this area that could benefit!

Good Morning!

We are back from camping!  How is everyone doing???

I see you had your surgery with Dr. Clough...what were your impressions of him?  (I met with him in 2003 for SWL, but chose not to go forward at that time.)  I did have SWL surgery in March with Dr. Michelle Toder, at EMMC in Bangor...

Hey Kristie! I live in Skowhegan so we can car pool together if you want!!! It took about 4 days to get all the gas out! I went into the bathroom and released! It took like 20 mins!! All I heard was my daughter saying "Ewww Momma! That's Gross" (she is 2) and my husband laughing hysterically!!! But it felt sooooooo good after that I didn't care!! Good luck and Inbox me whenever you want!!!

Hey all, Day 2 is not as bad as day 1, so I'm hoping Day 3 will be even better.  Added Sugar Free popsicles and S F Jello to my day and bought some flavored extracts to change up the flavors of my shakes.  Also adding lots more ice to the blender.  I CAN DO THIS ;-)

Thanks Kristie, I do feel better than yesterday.  I have no energy though.  Just going easy, napping and trying to keep my mind occupied ;-)

Of course, I'm going to start by telling you what you probably already know: protein, protein, protein! If you are having trouble tolerating protein (as I did), give Unjury a try (www.unjury.com); your Dr.'s office may have samples. I tried hundreds of dollars worth of protein supplements, and they are the best tasting & easiest to tolerate, by far!

I also have thyroid disease, and WLS surgery can strongly affect your thyroid function. If you haven't had it tested recently, you should. My thyroid function changed DRAMATICALLY after surgery!

Good luck!
