Hi! I did have surgery! It was oct 17th, 2014. Best thing I've ever done! I do not attend bangor support groups (although id like to) because it's too much of a drive. But I do attend a once monthly support group in waterville. It's through emcc, open to the public, and free. :) congrats on your surgery! I hope all is well. Personally, I feel great
Consider me a local contact. I had gastric bypass on November 14, 2014. I had to go all the way to Mexicali Bariatric Center to have it done. I'm coming along well. Did you have your surgery? I'm planning to attend the EMMC Support Group tomorrow, 1/2/15, will you be there? I haven't gone before. They said anyone would be welcome even if they didn't have their surgery in Bangor. I hope that turns out to be true.
I'm from Augusta...having surgery at Maine General...if you'd like to know my story I have started a blog: http://pursuingasleeve.blogspot.com/2014/04/and-so-it-starts.html. Would love to be friends with anyone going through this journey. :)

Hi. I'm from Maine too. Going through EMMC for sleeve gastrectomy. expected surgery date is end of October or early November. would love to have some local contacts too!!!
I am looking to find any friends out there who have been through or will be going through bariatric surgery. I know there are a lot of women/men in Maine who have had it done but yet there aren't really any groups for patients. I am looking to become either online or in person friends....someone to chat with, lend a ear to, go for walks or the gym...ask or help with questions....we all can use support. Have an AMAZING DAY :)
Hi Beth....How did your surgery go? I had the sleeve done on April 21st, 2014. Life has been so different since then with the sizes dropping. I was a size 34 when I started this journey and now I can fit in a 18/20. It is certainly a life changing experience when it comes to drinking and eating but you can do it. I would have never in a million years ever thought I would see anything below 290....but I am now 229 and losing. Try not to get frustrated as it can be overwhelming....if you need to ask any questions or just have someone listen...Im here. Where about in Maine are u from....I am in the Lewiston/Auburn area.
I was so surprised after all these years there was a site here still. I had surgery in 2006 and no complications (very thankful) now my PCP wants me to have a colonoscopy because of my age 67 and my iron is so low. Anyone had one after they have had RNY???? I am so nervous my 84 yr old mom in Iowa died from a colposcopy and I am scared to death!!!

Hi, my surgery (sleeve gastrectomy) is scheduled for July 16th and I'm on day 2 of a 2 week liquid diet. I need some help and encouragement! I'm hungry ALL the time. My head hurts and I feel nauseous off and on. I'm drinking protein shakes and trying to drink lots of water, but I still feel like crap. The summer heat is making it even harder.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Beth
