Glad you are home.  What is the water test?  I didn't have to do that or have a drain.  Different programs really do vary.  It will get better.  I remember feeling every sip for the first few days but either I got used to it or it is less noticeable or something because it's not bugging me anymore.  Some things don't sit well and I have learned to STOP IMMEDIATELY so it doesn't get worse.  Every day will be better, the gas was really the worst part for me.

Keep posting and rest up!

It won't last, I promise.  The first couple of weeks are really rough because your innards are so swollen and sore.  It DOES get better.  Hang in there!!

How about cream of wheat?  I swear I read that somewhere.  I am on day 10???  and am so sick of protein drinks, yogurt and soup that I could scream.

The homemade custard was my life saver.  As well as SF popsicles.  It sort of feels like your chewing even though you're not really.  Call the program tomorrow.  I was starved and Lynn gave me some suggestions.  I don't know if they are acceptable for everyone, so I don't want to give advice as to what to do, but what she told me  helped me alot.

Woo hoo you are on the other side, yay.  Glad you are doing so well.  Aren't those sponges the best and most awful thing all at once!  I ate the ice chips out of their cup even when they told me not to.  Rest up and keep us posted.  Hope you have a restful night.

Have you called her office?  I was having pain last August and the nurses were right on top of things.

Nope...just looked at my book.

Here is the list:
skim milk, 1%
SF instant breakfast
Strained cream soup
soy milk
light yogurt
NS Added cocoa
Atkins drink (one a day)
Advant edge
Unjury
High protein drinks
Tomato soup
Custard (homemade)
Dannon light and fit smoothies
Carb control smoothies
high protein slim fast
low carb slim fast

I hope this helps

I do know that if you are absolutely dying they would rather you have a high protein "cheat" rather than one with carbs so the oatmeal would probable not be the best thing.  Sorry

I've peed three times (only teensy amounts) graduated from moistened green sponges on a stick to ice chips, and gone for 1 short walk around the nurse's station and 1 walk around the unit.

I'm working hard on staying aheard of the pain by asking for the meds before the pain becomes an 8 or 9.  I'm dozing and using the mouth swabs frequently.

The adventure continues!

31 lbs. lost before surgery!  My goal is 150lbs.  My surgeon's goal is 110lbs.  I just can't imagine that weight right now.  Maybe someday . . .
