The difference may have to do with the diet before surgery.  I think that they want it to be really low carb due to shrinking the liver????  Call and ask to talk with any of the bariatric nuts tomorrow and hopefully they can give you some help.  Good luck.

I often had problem drinking cold liquids right after surgery (and sometimes even now).  Have you tried drinking something warm?  That might go down better.

Yes, I ended up calling this afternoon and spoke to Mary.  She couldn't get me in for an appointment until the beginning of June, but she's going to check with Dr. Toder and see if she wants me to get an abdominal CT or some other tests in the meantime.  Right now there is some suspicion that it's my gall bladder, but we'll just have to see.

Ask your doctor if you can include these foods in your full liquid diet:

Cooked, refined cereals, such as Cream of Wheat, cream of rice, oatmeal, grits, or farina
Strained meats, like the ones in baby food
Potatoes pureed in soup

this is what I read earlier. It is odd, some docs do it one way, with very specific yes/no's, and other docs completely disagree. I am reading my notebook, chewing ice (lol) and hoping for the time to pass quickly.

I heard cream of wheat the same place I heard pureed oatmeal. argh. ;) Guess we will figure it out. The tomato soup really helped, I think I need something hot to feel full, at least once a day. Thanks for being there, ladies.

You can do it!  The liquid diet stinks but believe me it stinks in a different way AFTER the surgery.  You won't be hungry and the thought of having to take in more of the protein shakes and yogurt and soup is daunting.  It is a great jumpstart to your weightloss though and you can do it.  I saw someone post this somewhere else and it's my new mantra, "You can do hard things".  I love it and say it to myself all the time now.  It's true!  I do hard things every day and beating my food addiction and getting thin and healthy is another hard thing I can do and you can too!!
