Congratulations on making it one step further in this journey! I was afraid my dr. would cancel on the day of surgery if I hadn't lost enough. Fortunately, I had.

I had a wonderful consult with him today but would love to hear the good, bad, of anyone who has had surgery or knows of anyone who has any experience with him. Thanks

Topic: liquid diet-day 8
I am not feeling nearly as hungry today, but thinking about it makes me wonder if I am a teensy bit obsessive. I am surprised by my ability to stick to this diet. NOT thrilled with the whole liquid in=liquid out theory, if you know what I mean. Amazing how the weight drops. I tried creamed cheddar cheese soup today, just for grins and giggles...blech. Nothing doing, the smell alone made me gag. Back to cream of chicken, I guess. Its a good thing I am a person who sticks with one or two kinds of food and doesnt get bored, I think me and cream of chicken are fast friends.
Its SO hard to cook for my family and remember not to taste test or sample. I almost picked up some shredded lettuce last night from the taco dinner I had made...caught myself and then had a goo laugh when I realized I was scolding myself for almost eating lettuce. I guess I am past the hardest part of the liquid diet, it really hasnt been too bad. I had a momentary desire for a buttered piece of bread today, but it passed quickly. I am still on a quest for the best protein drink/mix. saw one with frozen yogurt and peanut butter....great protein, too high calories. I suspect I would rather eat peanut butter by the jarful than down this protein powder after my surgery, but I will stick to the plan. surely there is something out there palatable.
A week from today, if all goes as planned, I will be recovering from my surgery. I am ready.

I use the Unjury products also as well as Fage Greek Yogurt - 10 grams of protein.

From what I understand (and I could be wrong). CleopatraNik and JenStock from the RNY board will do a Pouch Party in which they will cook WLS Friendly recipes, etc. There's a website but I'm not sure what the address is.

Thats interesting that the two doc's are so different. Cobeans administrative assistant told me that once i pay the deposit (which I did yesterday) they will email her and she will contact me (within two weeks) with a date. I asked how far out and they said June at the moment so it looks like it will be like 4-6 weeks? Craziness.

I am working on not having lactose right now . . . have you tried Lactaid or NuTrish as a first step? It might be worth a shot. I have friends who love soy milk and almond milk, but you have to watch the sugar content on those -- look for the SF varieties. I am trying to decide if I should try soy cheese myself as I am currently avoiding milk, yogurt and cheese, which is pretty boring!

My understanding is that Cobean doesn't care much if you lose weight pre-op, while Dr. Wolff cancels those who don't. Mostly it is for our safety anyway, but 8 pounds is fabulous! They didn't give you a surgery date when you were there? I was scheduled when I went in and was so upset that it was 12 weeks after I was told 6-8, but I had to get over the holidays to get to mine.
On the pre-op diet, you might do better not using the frozen meals as they have a lot of sodium -- or you have to pick ones that don't. It does make it easier if you wish to go that route, though. There is actually enough food in there that you don't need to eat it all at once and be hungry most of the day.
