It takes alot of trial and error to find one you actually like.  And really, what's the point if you DON'T like it?  If it tastes like crap and you have to choke it down, then you won't drink it and get the nutrition you need from it.  Try this one from Bariatric Foodie (Cleopatra_Nik from the RNY board) she has lots of other awesome flavors on there too, and  videos of how to make them.  Like she says, "There's no excuse for drinking a nasty protein shake!"  HTH, don't give up, you WILL find one you like!

Topic: RE: Pouch party???
Wow! Motivated people make things happen!

Hi, I'm Nikki, co-owner of Pouch Party. I saw a few folks ask what a Pouch Party is. Do you all watch Food Network? If you do, think Rachel Ray+Good Eats+ Emeril all rolled up into one. We do cooking demonstrations, games that teach you about good food choices, prizes and most importantly tastings!

Parties generally have some sort of theme (usually picked by the hostess) and the theme would dictate the price per person. We try to keep parties between $15-20 per person. And everyone leaves with something whether it be a slew of new recipes, door prizes, food, etc. We try to make it fun and educational.

My partner Jen and I would LOVE to come party in Maine! Perhaps then I can learn the real deal on Lobsters (I am from MD...we know crabs...lobsters not so much). If you'd like to see an actual party with guests and all check it out here. As Kelli so kindly pointed out we also have a recipe blog called Bariatric Foodie. That one is very interactive so put it on your feed if you like what you see. We often have readers vote for the next recipe made (as was the case for the current post "Mexican Lasagna").

Our motto is that there is NO food that can't be made WLS friendly. I hope we can get it together to come to Maine!

the Special K vanilla is not half bad (its palatable) if you blend it in the blender with 4-5 frozen strawberries. Im thinking a pinch of splenda would help even more. Im drinking it, and not hating it. Not my first choice in beverage, but it'll do. Suckers are expensive, though.

Topic: RE: Lap Band-Southern Maine
I am in Bath.   I am 15 months post op and and thrilled with the results I have achieved with my band.   I have gone from a size 26 jeans to a 12/14 pants.  I have been speaking at seminars in Augusta and love it.  From the beginning I have treated my band like a tool.  There are multiple tools you use for weight loss, the scale in the bathroom, the one you use to weigh your food..both of these things are tools.   It is still up to YOU to do the work.  I run 3-4 times a week now.  Have run 3 5ks and am preparing for a 10 k in August.  I give the band 25% of the credit for my weight loss, but I give myself the other 75%. People ask if I love being a success story...I respond with,  I don't know, because a success suggests to me they have reached their goal and they are done..I will be working on this for the rest of my life.   I have lost weight multiple times in my life but this is the first time I have lost THIS MUCH and kept it off this long.  Please if you have any specific questions I would be happy to help you in any way I can.   Good Luck!   Kimberly

Topic: 2nd Plastics Consult 6/1 (help need input)
I had a consult on Thursday with Dr. Schassberger in Waterville and really liked him.  I am now having second thoughts as he told me he would do a tummy tuck and thigh reduction at the same time.  After researching this I discovered that this is not recommended.  (He was recommended by Dr. Toder and I have difficulty believing that she would recommend someone who is not good) I have now set up a consultation with Dr. Vaughan at Plastic and Hand in Portland.  This process is so confusing.  I would love to hear from anyone who has had plastics or know of anyone who has had plastics and what the experience has been.

Greek yogurt is another option. It fits the requirements for carbs/fat/protein.
I had Dr. H. for another surgery last June. He's not big on small talk (I think he's shy) but, he is highly skilled.

31 lbs. lost before surgery!  My goal is 150lbs.  My surgeon's goal is 110lbs.  I just can't imagine that weight right now.  Maybe someday . . .

Congrats! You are about a week behind me. I am out of my first week of liquids and honestly, it is not nearly as bad as I expected. There have been a few moments of wishing I could taste the pepperoni off my daughters pizza or a piece of buttered bread, but honestly they were fleeting.
Not chicken noodle soup, but cream of chicken, with the meat removed. Popsicles are great. smoothies, skim milk, sf puddings and jello, there are these awesome little custard cups at hannaford, i LOVE the lemon. (Think they are dannon)  Carnation instant breakfast is great. You should start researching now, cause stuff is kinda expensive, and it is not as easy as it should be to find high protein ANYTHING. which is where the powders etc come in. I have discovered that protein powder mixed with carnation helps a lot. Atkins protein drinks are not bad, and may be even better mixed with fruit or something. DONT mix slimfast with ice in the blender..lol

Good luck.

I think I could start my own store with all the crap I have bought to try. :)  One thing I did try and...well....ick? Greek yogurt. Oh my. Must be a taste thing. I found some awesome new smoothie mixes in the fruit section at hannafords today, added a scoop of vanilla protein powder, and it was fine. Not great, not gross, just fine. These are little cups of fruit, you add them to the blender with ice and voila. The powder blended in nicely. I have "cheated" once. I knocked over a barrell of pretzels, and grabbed one off the floor before I even thought about it, popped one into my mouth. 3 second rule AND cheating, Im in trouble. :)   You know why i DONT cheat? Besides the fact that I am choosing this and want to do it right, I KNOw Dr Toder will see my stomach and intestines next week. and I dont even want to tick her off. LOL

How you feeling?
