Why do you need to meet with a social worker??  I found that if my bariatric surgeon wanted tests he would order them.  There are a lot of unnecessary tests out there.  I have insurance, but I still have a co-pay and I have to pay 10% of all tests.   I thought I saw your BMI was 50 is that right?...do you have any co-mobidities?   It is beautiful today...we are on the water so it is VERY windy here.  As much as I need to get out and run there is a lot of cleaning on the inside I am trying to get done today.  I will get in a good run tomorrow.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, and that is why they call it the present.

31 lbs. lost before surgery!  My goal is 150lbs.  My surgeon's goal is 110lbs.  I just can't imagine that weight right now.  Maybe someday . . .

Hi Kimberly,

What a beautiful Sunday so far!  I did attend my first informational meeting on 4/20 and decided to see the social worker that was on their list because MMC social worker would of taken months, I met with her on May 5th and passed.  The thing that I was having a hard time with was getting a simple referral from my doctor.  There was a mix up in his office and they we having me speak to the wrong person 9she has limited english) and she always had no idea why I needed a referral but finally after 3 weeks, have it straightend out.  My doctor was the one that mentioned that I would be a good candidate for some type of wls because I have no other conditions-yet.  He knows my history of struggling and losing all my life.

I went for a barium swallow which my PCP thought doctor Cobeans office would want and that was this past Friday.  I guess my PCP was also working on my referral and labs were faxed over this past week, so I am hoping that I hear something within the next two weeks.  In the meantime, I plan on going to a support group.

Here is my email: [email protected], if you would want to send me information there.  I really appreciate the time your taking with me.

Have a great day and tomorrow is going to be even nicer!

I  have been  having  pain  occassionally  in my  left ab  about  once a month for a while.   I  have  shrugged it off. but  dr toder said at the last support group that any pain in ab should be checked.  and then i proceeded to have three attacks of pain in one day.

when it happens i feel  a bunch the size of an egg  and if you push on it it hurts even worse.  so i called the  surgeons office and I see  dr Haung on thursday.   no lifting  they say.  Guessw they might think it an incisional hernia.   when it has no pain i can not feel the bunch.  so to the doctors i go on  thursday.

take care all!!!!

absolutely. I think that was my little second guessing attack, but it really made me look at the bigger picture. Reality is, if I could keep it off by myself, I wouldnt be here. I think that the things I have learned this year will help me keep the weight off AFTER my surgery, but I definitely think the surgery is the tool my body needs. I think the surgery is the motor for my body, and my new found understanding is the motor for my brain, and I need both. Im ready.

it is 4 am and I am up with restless legs, yuck. I think it was 10 g of protein. I am pretty sure the sugar content wouldnt be great after surgery. I have spent a few hrs reading up on the bariatric foodie page someone mentioned above, WOW. Great ideas. I have even ordered a bunch of stuff she mentions, stuff to make good tasting protein drinks. I really like how she talks and explains things in her videos, its like a friend sitting here with me. I am so glad I was pointed her way. Hoping some of the things she describes are as good as they sound. I so agree with the not buying in bulk. Im learning. :)

Have you come to terms with a decision yet? You will decide what's best for you at this point in time. That's all any of us can do.
