Hi! Glad you made the call and got the ball rolling!
I am going to go for the gastric bypass instead of the band...when I met with the Dr. we discussed all the pros and cons of both, and the bypass fits me and my life better than the band. I will have to stay in the Lewiston area for 5-7 days after getting out of the hospital, but there is a place there that helps people out in that situation, so hopefully I can get in there...if not, I'll stay at a hotel for that time.
My dietician appt. is this coming Friday, the 28th, and though I dread the ride, I'm excited to get this going!!!!!
Good for you (education!) ! Working on your Masters is fantastic...I'm still working on getting a Bachelors! Though I get tired of school, no one in my family has ever graduated from college, so here I am (I'll be 38 on Tuesday) still working on it. Being layed off from my last job was a good thing for me...it allowed me to go back to school.
Ok, off for now! Keep me updated...I'd love to keep in touch as we get moving on this journey!

Hi Michelle,
By now you must be post-surgery, but still drinking protein drinks (and will for a while yet). My favorite protein drink was and still is this:
8 oz sugarfree lemonade (I use Crystal Light)
1 scoop unflavored Optimum Nutrition Any Whey Protein
Frozen strawberries (without sugar) to make it the thickness you like. (I get the sliced ones in a large bag from Sam's Club and throw in a couple handfuls which makes it really thick, but you could use less)
It is really very delicious and refreshing.
During strawberry season you can cut up the strawberries yourself (or leave them whole) and just pop them into your freezer on a cookie sheet until they freeze up and then transfer tham to a plastic bag/container)
Good luck you (and hello to all my old buddies on this list!)

Topic: 1 year appointments done...
So I had my one year appointments with Dr. Toder and my NUT and it all went well. The weight loss is alot slower than some but they both encouraged me not to focus on everyone else. I'm still losing but it's closer to 2lbs a month instead of 2lbs a week which is where I ideally should be.
At the NUT we did the calometric thingy since I missed it in Feb. They stated that I burn 3400 calaries a day and that I could eat up to 2000 because I am 28% faster than normal on my metabolism, not sure how much I believe that but we will see. the Nut said that I should eat close to 2000 instead of 1200 which is what my aim is because my body might be feeling like it's starving, not sure about this.
At Dr. Toder, she was so excited about the Dempsey and my biking. She agreed that the weight is slow and was concerned about this. She felt that meeting in the middle on the calories and not going for the 2000 but going for about 1500-1600 a day and tracking everything I eat because things can catch up with you and not even realize it, like a handful of nuts and the amount of calories you are really getting. She was very supportive and I felt very encouraged leaving her office.
The big news- She cleared us to have BABIES! She stated that I didn't need to wait for the rest of the weight to come off and that it would come and that she wants us to go ahead and try for our family. She made me agreed to send pictures.
Also, she is sending my for an ultrasound to determine any issues with the gallbladder as i've been having shooting pains in my chest into my shoulder.... hopefully that is okay.
I go to see Dr. Dawson in Portland for Fertility specialist on June 1st, wish me luck!
Miss everyone! It's hard because I have class every time we have support group but I promise some day soon I will be there!

The happier news is I went digging in my closet last night and found four more pairs of capris that fit, a couple of 18's!! I haven't seen those for ages. Now I need to unearth some tops, wouldn't do to go around topless (although it's fine to do in Farmington you know, LOL).
