Topic: Let's be Supportive & Committed to those who are Struggling
Hello! SWL Pals,
I am Lynda, I had my laproscopic bypass surgery June 12, 2008 in Bangor, Maine. OK, I know I have slacked off for quite sometime, and have put on 24 lbs of the 79 lbs I had lost. I am hoping to touch basis with some or little of you that post or read on here. At one time, there used to be a lot of members on here. (Maine Forum).
I hope we all can be supportive to each other, especially to the ones like me that are struggling with their food plans and exercise. I know, for the last 2 -3 months I have really slacked off regarding my exercise, so I am now recommitting & dedicating myself to be faithful at exercise & eating healthy. I am very thankful for Patty P. for being supportive yet, firm with me.
I already know if it is to be, it's up to me, to get this 68 extra pounds off. i am concentrating on 1 step, 1 pound and 1 day at a time.
We all need each other at this time. Let's don't give up on each other.
Who is ALL with me and others to get back into being faithful to this message board. I really believe a lot of people read this Maine Forum, and are afraid to post. I know I was earlier, and at times, I still am.
I would love to thank you for your time.
May you all keep up the great work on your weight loss journey.
Your SWL Pal,
Lynda H.

Hi there,
Congrats on your surgery. My name is Amy and I had my RNY in July, 2011 and feel that it was the best decision I've made for myself. I've lost 135 pounds and plan to lose another 50-60 or so. I couldn't be happier because I can finally do all the things I missed out on for so long, like taking my daughter on rides at the Fryeburg Fair, or dancing, which was something I loved to do when I was young, but became unable to do when I was morbidly obese. The most surprising thing out of all this for me though, is that I actually love to exercise now! That just wasn't a possibility when I weighed 330 pounds, because it was so very difficult for me to move and get around at that weight that there was just no way I could enjoy exercising. Now I'm planning to run my first 5k in March.
You are so early out in your journey, but give it time and I think you will feel the same way about your decision. Just keep doing everything your surgeon and bariatric team has taught you. Once the weight starts flying off and you start seeing what a difference it is making in your quality of life, I think your worries will subside.
Best wishes to you!

Hi Darly,
Congrats on your surgery. I had a different type of surgery, but if you're having any question about pain, please call your surgeon's office. There's no way to know if your pain is "normal" or not unless you speak to someone at your surgeon's office about it. Your surgeon's office also should have prepared you for your post-op diet - how much protein you need to be getting in, etc. If you're not able to get in the amount that your surgeon told you for more than a day or so, then you really need to call them. But I'd definitely call them about the pain. Hope you feel better!
Take care,
Amy

I just had my sleeve on Jan. 13th and I am feeling pretty good right now. I just looked at your date on this entry and I am assuming you have already had your surgery

I just wanted to say hi and tell a little about my self. I live in southern Maine. I just had surgery on the 9th of January. I am living on a rollercoster ride of life right now. I am not sure if I am doing things right, not sure if this was the right choose. Then I am feeling great cant wait to see results dreaming of all the things I can do. Walking around in circles to just move as the ice out side scares me. As you can see I am all over the place and decided to join the group to see if I am not alone. I am doing the surgery on my own I have two kids at home that I am taking care of and taking care of my self. I cant wait to hear from everyone on their own experiences. Thanks
