Topic: Stop and Go
Well, it seems that I will lose one to two pounds in the first week of the month. Then around the third week of the month, I lose eight pounds and then another one to two pounds the last week. I have steadily been losing 8 to 10 pounds a month. So I am gaging that if all goes according to my body's clock, I would possibly have 7 more months to get to my goal weight. Although, I have learned not to expect anthing on this journey other to hang on for the ride. I absolutely have no regrets here. I just keep plugging away. I'm just so close to my goal weight I am getting a little antsy and impatient. LOL
Topic: Hi all new!!! Hope every one had a happy 4th
Just want to welcome all new members. and say hi to all us oldies. Though i know we are not very old and all of us are healthier now than when we began on our Journey.
I have a sleep apnea test tomorrow nite and hopefully this time i get off the machine. I cant sleep with it and the last time my blood oxygen went to 85 a couple of times and he wants it at 86 so maybe with exercising it will have gotten better.
If it is still low i am gonna see if he can put me on oxygen at nite that is a lot quieter than that machine that is what they do for my friend in California but we will see.
Have a great week all!!! Gonna be hot. we just got to love it!!!

Topic: RE: Anyone else have this happen?
That has been happening to me a lot. i dont know what the source of mine is as I dont eat sugar. If I am not sitting down when it happens, I faint. Doctors told me that what I am going through could be a sudden drop in blood pressure. Hence the fainting. I just have to be sitting when it happens to me.

Topic: RE: White Water Rafting
I would love to go again. I haven't been since I was a teenager. Isn't it great to have so much more freedom? I think I might try downhill skiing this winter.

Thanks for your responses! I've talked to Bangor and was told that they are definitely doing the VSG but I didn't ask how many had been done. I'm very early on in the process. Have attended the Orientation and Support Group. I do have appointments for other necessary pre-op requirements coming up soon. I'm thinking if my surgeon agrees with me that this is the route I will take.
TIGGRPT: If you wouldn't mind asking your friend a couple of questions, I'd sure appreciate it.
How long has it been since surgery?
How long did the surgery take and how long she was in the hospital?
Were pre-op requirements similar to the RNY or not so strict? As in the liquid pre-op diet, was it required and for as long?
Has she had any problems with her pouch since having the VSG?
Sorry I have so many questions. If you can get any answers, I'd be grateful!
The only thing that concerns me a bit is that there is not really any long term data on how people are doing several years out. I keep thinking what if five years down the road I pop a staple...I know, I know...pretty random...lol. If there are ANY off the wall thoughts to be had, I'll have them!
Thanks again!
Andrea

When I went to my informational meeting in Jan of 2009 in Bangor, they had said that they had done 2 VSG's in Bangor. That was 18 months ago, so I'm sure they've done more. They hadn't done that many because insurance wasn't covering them at that point. I'd definitely call Bangor.
Topic: White Water Rafting
So I've been working at expanding my horizons and stepping out of my comfy little box and today I think I succeeded. I went whitewater rafting for the first time ever! It was so amazing and I can't wait to go again. It's something that I NEVER would have done 90+ pounds ago and I look forward to trying many more new things.
So what things have you done post-op that you never would have done before - or if you're preop - what things are you looking forward to trying as you get more comfortable in your new body?
