Thank you so much Kate.  That is so nice of you!  My surgery went just fine and I am on the mend.  I feel great and have been getting around the past few days with just being a little sore.    I think the first 3 days were the worst but so glad I did this.

Had a lovely 1.5 mile walk this afternoon at the Broadway park with the hubby today! I hope more people will be interested in joining us for future walks!

Naomi,  I just wanted to wish you good luck tomorrow!   I know everything will go well but I hope it is even better than we hope!

Topic: RE: Rainy-Day Activities...

I noticed that no one had replied to this posting, and I couldn't help but wonder why. I personally have such a hard time coming up with exercises on a rainy day, especially when before I would curl up with a blanket and read a book.

So I took your question pondered on it for the night and this is what I have been doing to keep going even on a cold rainy day.

Walking in my living in one place, knees as high as I can comfortably get them without tiring quickly. (I do this while watching TV) Walk up to the TV, stay there for a few steps, then walk all the way back (to the wall or couch), then walk back to the middle of the room, repeat.

As long as your feet are moving, and at a good pace in about 16-17 minutes you will have walked 1 mile without leaving the house

To add a mix, I also have been playing with the Kettle bell, which is actually a fun weight "lifting" technique, however it uses your core (middle area) to do most of the work which means...toning not muscle building.

I have contemplated on buying a Kinect for my Xbox 360 and get the sport game that I love and played for so long, SOCCER!! (If they make it)

Hey Lynda how have you been since your last posting on this thread?

I would really like to know how you are doing now, and other ways that you have been working on losing the weight that you recently gained as well any other struggles you might have.

I myself am going to be having laparoscopic gastric bypass and would really like to know more of how you felt afterwards and any obstacles you might have had upon returning home up until now.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

God Bless!

Sincerely,
A. Watson

Sounds fantastic, I do not live too far from EMMC. I haven't been to the bog boardwalk before (not sure where it is either).

Congratulations on your date for surgery being set! I am free for exercising whenever you are as I have taken personal time off from work to focus on me and my journey.

Will contact you soon!

Im in the Bangor area and would love to walk with you.
My husband, daughter and I love to walk the bog boardwalk. Have you ever walked it, so nice. I also work at EMMC and we have a walking group that meets every afternoon to do a 30 min. walk.

Have a great day and congrats on your new life style

I was thinking for any one that is in and or around the Bangor area that would like to do some extra fitness and possibly local volunteering for walks/runs as fundraisers that we can do them together.

Have our own little club sort to speak. I myself am in the pre-op stage and would love to have a few people to exercise with to remain more active and to get support, as my journey is about to get even more exciting I would love to have people to share it with.

If there is an interest please let me know and I will get something together. Thanks, and have a wonderful day!

Thanks for the reminders of the support groups.  I looked at the dates of the support groups and I plan on going to the one the first Friday in June.  I should be about 10 days post op so hopefully I am feeling up to driving the 2.5 hours.  Maybe I will see you and your wife there! :)    Hope your wife is doing well!  My husband is finally starting to feel a little better now that he was moved off the phase 2 diet.  Thank you for the prayers! God Bless.
