Hi Jeff,

I went for my consult October 6, signed the consent, paid my deposit and now waiting for my date!  I am excited and nervous..My friend had Dr. Wolff as her surgeon and is very pleased with the results thus far. (she had gastric)..I went with Dr. Cobean because of my PCP.

Keep me update with your progress and good luck!

Topic: Moved to Maine in September
Just wanted to introduce myself.  I used to post here a few years ago but then I moved to SC.  We decided we didn't like it and have moved back.  I had my surgery in SC on October 2009.  Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

RNY may 20 2010. In total, I have lost 95 pounds in the last year, 64 since surgery. I had apnea and a high BMI plus some joint issues. As for complications, I have had to have surgery to repair a small hernia, some adhesions, etc..just one surgery for those combined. I used to think Dr Toder was abrupt and rude-ish. Now I think I REALLY like her. I would do it again. I am currently missing the routine of going to the gym, which I genuinely liked. 4 more weeks and I can go back.

1.  Lap RNY with Dr. Toder 12-22-08
2. I would do it again!  I have some extra skin but I will take that over being as heavy as I was any day
3.  Most of my weight came off in the first 15months...I have lost around 193lbs
4.  I still have 20lbs to go..but honestly very happy with my size
5.  I was healthy other than the overweight part of  me :)

Topic: Surgeon Follow Up

Home from bangor from seeing my surgeon. All is going well. I have lost 18lbs however. My G-tube came out THANK GOODNESS!!!! My other incision is healing well. still in pain from it all. Still out of work till at least 10/29. Going NUTS Need something to do still limited. Taking care of myself and getting house work done or what i can get done.

I also found out exactly what happened. The dr explained that the spot where he re-routed my intestine it retracted (telescope effect) on itself. Where part of it went up into the re-routed intestine. In the past it would corrected itself only this time it didn't and cause a bad blockage. Lost about 6 inches of intesine as the dr couldnt get it to undo itself. This ISNT a common issue but has been documented in three or four other patients through bangor. The dr explained that between the hernia and the bowel issue this is what was causing my off and on again pain. Thus the assumption that it would undo itself. No gauentee that it won't happen again though.

1. I had lap RNY with Dr. Loggins in Feb. 08.

2. I love my results but like others I have had many problems.  I have had ulcers to the point of being hospitalized, gallbladder out in 4/09, and an internal mesenteric hernia in august. Dr. Loggins took very good care of all these problems and I would do it again.  I also had my plastic surgery in april of this year.  I had my arms done and breast implants.

3. It took me nine months to go from 250 to 119 and have been maintaining at a BMI of 21 for almost 3 years with no regain. I have gone from a size 22 to a size 2. Hopefully that will continue.

4.  Unlike most people I had no comorbid conditions. I was only 27 at the time so that might be a reason since I had only been obese for about 8 years.  The only reason I qualified for surgery was a BMI of 44.

Hope that helps:)
