Topic: RE: How much did you have to pay OOP?
Depending on your insurance you may need between $1-2 thousand oop money. Most of the presurgery stuff isn't covered by insurance so its 100-200 oop each time. You really need to check with your insurance and get a hard %# of what they will cover and go from there figure on total costs of about $31,000.
Topic: How much did you have to pay OOP?
How much did you have to pay out of pocket for your surgery? I have a flex spending account that I can start and I want to use it for my co-pays and such just want to know what the average is. So that I can make sure I have enough!
Topic: RE: Questionable blockage ?????
Sometimes when I eat the food seems to get stuck. And I start burping and creating a lot of saliva then I end up trowing up. I can be plain water that it happens to as well. Feels like something is sitting on my chest. Silly me thought it was a part of dumping or maybe eating too much. But dr. Huang wants to do an upper G.I Series to see if there is a blockage or something preventing stuff from entering the pouch.

Topic: RE: Got my referral!
Glad to hear! Just remember this road can be a long one and takes time. Don't give up and don't fret too much. Just keep jumping through the hoops and soon you'll be done and on your way to good health.
Topic: Questionable blockage ?????
To all of my friends who were at support group last night, I did call Dr. Huang first thing this morning. I need to go have an Upper G.I. Series done to see if I have a blockage that needs repair. Thanks to you all, for your guidance last night, your experience really makes a difference. Since I don't really know what is normal or not. Will keep you posted on the results asI know them.
Topic: Got my referral!
I am nervous now! Waiting to hear from EMMC to see if I am eligible (by their standards) to have WLS! Cannot wait to start the Journey with EMMC!
Topic: RE: sending prior auth through!
I think it is different for each provider...I met me surgeon 6 1/2 months ago, and have not yet had surgery. Others tell me they met their surgeon closer to the surgery date. Where are you in the scheme of things? Have you done everything else that needs to be done? I had to do 6 months of dietician visits per my insurance....but each insurance is different. Good luck and hope time passes quickly for you!
Topic: RE: UGH!! Just getting frustrated!
I hope things move along quickly for you, but like others said, be patient, and count on at least 6 months before surgery.
I know the feeling of wanting things done NOW. It has been over a week since my docs office tried to submit my stuff to my insurance only to find out that when my hubby's insurance changed, someone messed up, and didn't carry over the gastric stuff. Sooooo, I've been bugging the human resources lady, and the person who messed up, for over a week now. I know that mistakes happen, and have tried to be patient, but when she gets on the phone and lies to get me off her back, I get mad. He mistake is holding me up.
Good luck with surgery, and keep us posted.
