HI Patty,

I have not found out what is causing it yet. My PCP is scheduling me to have an endoscopy hopefully this week. She changed my med to an over the counter type and it is helping, I still get indigestion every time I eat, but it goes away after awhile. Not like before it was constant.

Topic: Home from the hospital and what a day
Well my surgery was wednesday and I got dc'd friday evening. Things went pretty well. I am extremely emotional but not too much pain. Took me 6 and 1/2 hours to get those 16 little cups (1 oz each)down. I never would have imagined. It did not hurt but I got so full so fast. The staff was all awesome at CMMC. So anyway I got home and got situated in my recliner to start sipping water. I gave my lovenox and took my pain med. I went off to try to sleep. I woke up at 2am and heard my husband in pain. He said he had bad stomach cramps. He spent the next 5 hours in agony with dry heaves. I could not sleep. Of course neither could he. At 7am I called his mother and she came down to check on him. I wanted him to go to ER and eventually he went.  He ended up with nausea and pain meds. They say he had a huge gas bubble and fluid trapped in his intestines. They actually have admitted him to keep his nausea and pain under control and keep him hydrated. This came out of nowhere. Last summer he had stomach srgery for reflux and then ended up getting it reversed after it caused him to lose almost 50 lbs. He was only slightly overweight before. He has been having bad gas issues and had said once my surgery was over and I was back to work, he would call his gastro doctor. I asked him if he could have waited until a few days at least after I got back. LOL. Really not funny. I have tried to get my fluids and meds in today and at least some protein. It is hard to stay focused with worrying about him. Good thing our families have stepped up to help. Ug why did this all have to happen at once.  Well I just needed to vent a lttle. Will check in tomorrow.

Hi  Kelly   you need to call  Dr Haung office.

It could be an ulcer causing all the pain.

I  get a little gas once in a while a lot of burping   and   gas x will take care of it.  it is usually when my pouch is  empty for a long time.

If it lasted more than a day or two or came back i would call  Dr Haungs office

I see  Dayna on the  30 th and the pa to.

Anyone else have trouble with heartburn? I started getting it every day around 3 pm, now I just have it constantly all day and I take protonix (have doubled and tripled my dose) and rolaids and tums and nothing is touching it.  I am a little concerned, how does that stomach acid get back up that six feet of intestines and to my esophagus?

Best thing to do when you aren't at home and don't have your own meal is follow the same rules, protein first and no drinking with your meals. Your tool will do the rest, you can only fit so much in that pouch and as long as you don't wa**** down and make more room you should be fine. If going to a family or friend's I always bring a dish I know I can eat.

Very good support group meeting last night! We talked about what we can do to avoid food stressors during the holidays. Some ideas were plan ahead, eat before you go, smaller plates, bring something you know you can have.

I like to look over what is there and then decide what to put on my plate also by keeping a glass of water in your hands you're less likely to carry a plate too.

Any one else have ideas to share to help get through the holidays successfuly?

Oh my goodness the time has flown by. Shortly here I will be doing my bowel prep. Yuck. I need to call the hospital at 2 pm to see what time my surgery is tomorrow. I am so nervous. I am also feeling a little weak from the clear liquid diet starting yesterday. I can't wait to be telling you all I am home. I wish Heather would post about her surgery cause I am hoping all went fine but the nervous side of me worries since she has not posted. I will probably post again later cause I am home all day.
