WLS and antidepressants

Does anyone have any experience with taking antidepressants after surgery? I am waiting to be scheduled for RNY and wondered if my dosages would need to be changed. How can you figure out if they will be absorbed differently (and need to raise the doses w/o waiting until I get depressed)? The surgeon was concerned by the number of antidepressants I was on, but this is the only combination that has consistently worked for me after years of failed attempts. Are any of you still on a number of meds after surgery and do you have trouble taking all of them?

Hi, I had surgery already and they don't take away your antidepressants. I take anziety meds and took them after surgery and it was fine. That is one thing they don't mess with. The woman oneadays are a horse pill them are hard to swollow but other than that they should be okay. Make sure you ask your doctor about the ingedience in your meds because some things we can't take like acedaminifin. Lisa

Lisa: At EMMC through the weight loss program they had me take chewable multi vitamin complete until 3 weeks after. I'm now 26 days out after Gastric bypass OPEN and can take regular vitamins if I want to but decided to finish off the chewables complete (from Wal-mart)
