I am now 19 days out from my Gastric Bypass OPEN with Dr. Donald Clough from EMMC, Bangor, ME. The first two weeks were really rough but I am doing better now. I am very pleased with Dr. Clough and would reccommend him to anyone and EMMC for a center of WLS excellance. They were awarded the prestiges award of WLS Excellance for the whole nation! I think that speaks for itself. They have an excellent program which I would reccommend to anyone. Just had my staples out yesterday and I've lost #15 already! i'm so excited and feeling better now. I've been given the ok to continue walking and now swimming which I truly love and is excellent exercise. Can't wait until the summer to get into a decent size bathing suit and NOT be embarrassed. I've graduated to fruit and veggies so more variety in my meals now and just when I thought I would never be able to eat another scrambled egg and cheese or drink another protein drink with skim milk again! LOL I did not glean much support from this site once I went into surgery but mark my words I shall try to help others on here from my own experiences. God Bless all those who have gone through the WLS and Good Luck to those who are just starting their journey. Loni

Loni, Your messages are so inspiring! I love this website. My surgical consult is tomorrow (3/17/) and I'm hoping my insurance company will approve as I've had to wait through 12 months of PCP consultations. Today I'm a nervous wreck since by going tomorrow it means I'm definately making the commitment. Congrats on your achievments and thanks for posting all the incouragements! C/

Hi cheryl: I think making that final commitment was the hardest thing I ever have done and then to realize there is no turning back was a big relief. I knew and do know that it is the best thing for my body health wise that I've ever done. No more yoyo dieting, no more gaining, no more depression over my weight and size and no more beating myself up and tearing myself down. I'll look better and feel better too healthwise and mentally. It is a rough road but OH so worth it. Especially if you have family and friends to support you all the way. Go to all the support groups you can. My husband went with me and it has helped me and helped him to understand where I'm at and where I'm headed as well. I am celebrating 1 month today 17th since my surgery. I think the scheduling I must keep myself on is the toughest. Especially IF I go out somewhere, I must remember to take my water and protein drink or whatever with me. Keeping myself in enough liquid is a chore too. must have 6-8 cups of water and other liquid a day. I'm also going to the YMCA now and loving it. well god Bless you dear. Good luck to you. I shall keep you in my prayers. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail. OK? Keep in touch. Loni in Milo, ME
