I am a very confused person right now....
I decided to talk to my Dr about having surgery in may she reccomended me in june...I did all the steps to get up to where I am now and to me it seems like it has gone by so fast...I went to the dietician on the 30th she said she was going to scedule me to see Dr. Clough sometime in the month but I have to lose 5 lbs at my visit....Well I got a letter in the mail the next day saying I have an appt to see Dr. Clough on the 7th. That gives me a week to lose 5 lbs. I dont know if i can do it and if I dont I cant go on with the surgery. i dont know what to do...I am so confused...maybe it is because it is crunch time and I am really feeling the pressure now. Has anyone ever felt they might not be making the right decition?? Is it all because of my nerves?? PLease let me know.
Hey Laurie!
Don't get discouraged. Most of the doctors and dieticians suggest that we continue to try and lose weight during the whole testing and approval process. They want to see if you have the committment to stick with it before, so they will be assured that once you have the surgery, that you will still have the commitment to stick with the requirements of the program. I think they want to see the effort on your part. The dietician probably didn't know that your appointment with Dr Clough would be so soon. Explain it to the Dr and I wouldn't worry. They will just want to know that you are still trying during the process. Some doctors also require you to lose a certain amount before surgery for either health reasons or for the committment strategy.
Don't lose faith with the board. In the summer days, and even in the winter, lots of us don't check the board daily...and if we do, we don't always post. We are called "lurkers"! lol This is a holiday weekend so I would imagine many of us are out enjoying the great weather.
You are bound to have nerves...just hang in there! It's a great ride and well worth it!

Dear Laurie:
Dont worry too much about the five pounds in a week. Just explain to Dr. Clough that it has only been a week and you are trying to lose the five pounds. Believe me, nerves run amok throughout this whole process. Just talk to the doc, do what he tells you, and you should be fine. I went crazy during the whole process of getting this surgery, but I can honestly tell you that it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have lost 200 or so pounds. My entire life is different now. All for the better. Good luck to you. I will keep you in my thoughts!!!
