Hello all. I was wondering if you take protein powders (I imagine almost everyone does). Can you tell me the cheapest place to buy these and which ones taste the best? Was looking at Fuzzy Navel Nectar which doesn't cost too much online but the shipping and handling is approximately 1/3 the price of the powder! Can I purchase this in some store in Maine like a natural food store? Appreciate any help.

Hi Dorothy, I use Champion Nutrition brand protein powders, Pure Whey Stack in chocolate and ProScore 100 in chocolate. When I was first looking I went to vitalady.com to find just the right ones for me. The couple who own the company have both had gastric bypass surgery and the products that they sell are all good for post-ops. She also sells samples so that you can try them without having to buy a big jug. I liked the Fuzzy Navel Nectar when I first tried it but now it's too sweet for me. I think it takes a lot of trial and error. Lemme know if you have any other questions, I'd be more than glad to talk protein with you. Meredith

Hello Meredith: Wanted to thank you so much for the information on protein powders. Looked at the site you suggested but the shipping and handling are so high (as on all the other sites I found also). I called Walmart and asked if they sell protein powder and was told they did so am going to try to see what theirs looks like. I wonder if they sell the Nectar in a store in Maine someplace? I emailed Syntrax who makes it but haven't heard back yet. I assume you had the bypass operation? Are you happy you had it done? I had it set up about a year ago and doc cancelled me the night before the operation because my support person had to leave town to see her daughter in Rhode Island. I am alone so had no one else. I am trying to set up the operation again, though because my friend from NH offered to come stay with me. Hopefully I will get this accomplished in the near future! Thanks again

Hello Marcia: Thanks so much for your reply! I found the unjury site but the shipping and handling charges are so high (as on other sites that sell protein powders). I was told Walmart sells prot. powder so am going to check it out there. At least I'll save $8 in S&H charges! I did want to try the Nectar and have emailed Syntrax who makes it to find out if it is sold in a store in Maine someplace. Haven't heard back yet. Thanks again.
