Lap banders in Maine??
Hey there everyone !!
My name is Pam and I live in the Portland area. I am looking for other lap banders here in Maine to see where you all are?? I had my lap band on 6/21/05 and am feeling great right now. Not that it has been an easy road for the last 30 or so days but I love my band so far. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Anyway, I am just looking for some new buddies who are going through the process too. Hope to hear from you all soon.
Hugs,
Pam
Hi Pam. I'm not a lap bander, but I am scheduled for baractris surgery August 10th. I'm your neighbor. I live here in Gorham. How are you feeling? You probably have to do alot of the same things that I will be doing. I don't know much about the lap band. What's the diff? I'm 45 and can't wait to start being the thinner me that I want to be. Kim
Hi Pam,
I am also a lap bander and I live in Hartland (it's up by Newport). I had my lap band done in Augusta Maine by Dr. Richard Morand. I had surgery on July 27th 2004. Since then I have lost 141 pounds. I am so happy with the descion I made to have the lap band, I would have to say its been a wonderful journey!!!!!! I would like to lose another 70 lbs, and I know I can do it, or come real close. You have done GREAT with your weight loss WAY TO GO!!!!!!!
Take care and I am glad to see someone else in this support group that has had the band
Sue
Hello Sue: I am have joined this site. I live in Milo, up north near Dover-Foxcroft. My friend Paula Richards just had a RNY surgery but I am interested in a lapband surgery. I was 254 and am down to 222lbs but can't seem to loose anymore. I thought having the lapband might help. I have to have mine through Maine Care and not sure they will approve me. How was your surgery covered? could you share with me some on it? I also need a sympathetic doctor. I have IBS bowel problems and stomach problems and have had cervical disc removal surgery in my neck. I also have trouble standing long periods and also have RLS(restless leg syndrome) I also have asthma. (not bad though) Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. Congrats on your loss. I pray it continues for you! God Bless
Awaiting your reply. Loni
Hi Pam
I am a fellow lap bander and greater portland area resident. I only check this board once in a while, mostly "hang out" on the lap band forum board. I have noticed that we have different issues that arise from RNY patients ie: food getting stuck between the pouches.... But I do find comfort knowing that there are many other sucessful patients here in Maine
Glad to meet you...
Shannon

Hello
My name is Amanda, and I love in Portland, ME. I had been a patient of Dr. Aslams untill the end of June, when he retired. I had been thru all the pre-screening and was waiting for insu approval. Well after a month or so of scrambling to find another surgeon that my insu covered. (to boot my insu is changing effective in 06 to no longer cover surgery)
I ended up at the Obesity Treatment Center in Manchester, NH They have been so wonderful durring this extremely stressful time of finding a new surgeon to do my lap-band.
I am actually going to be their first lab-band patient schedule for 8/25. While there are a whole lot of other concerns that go with that, I am confient in my decision to do the lab-band instead of the bypass which they have been doing for 4 years now.
It is so nice to see other lab-banders in the area.
