Got an unexpected surprise today

I could not believe my ears today when I talked to Dr Aslams office. They called me and wanted to know if I still wanted him to do my WLS..well..YES!!! But then she continued to tell me why she was asking..seems Dr A is going to retire at the end of this month..YES end of June Talk about a surprise!! I am going to go ahead with my surgery on Monday, June 6th and will remain with Dr Aslam as long as he is working and once he retires..BOOHOO.. will go where he has referred me to go which she said will be Portland. Not happy about him retiring, but totally understand why, with the price of the malpractice insurance. 3 days to go..WOOHOO!! dancing but still As always, Paula

They never mentioned anything to me when I was in on Thursday. Is he totally retiring? What about all those people and their jobs? I feel sadder for them than me...but I wonder why we are being referred to Portland instead of around here. His staff is wonderful and I feel so badly for them. I see him on the 16th so I will ask them then. Thanks for letting us know. Judy

I just thought of another thing. That $600 fee was for long term post op support. One month isn't very long for that amount of money. What if we don't want to travel all the way to Portland?

Ha Girlfriend!!!!! TWO DAYS TO GO!! Bummer about your doctor retireing at the end of the month. However, I am soooo glad that your not letting a little thing like that stop you from making one of the biggest and best decisions of your life. Come Monday you will be a complete and total LOSER!! LOL and I mean that in the best way How is your hubby doing? Is he feeling any better today? How did the doctors app# go? Can't wait to chat at 7 tonight with ya.
