Any news on Travis?
Hi,
It is so great to come on here and see that people actually care about someone they don't even really know. Thank you so much for asking.
He is doing really great. He is hopefully coming home today. Dr. D should be visiting him any time and I am just waiting for the call to go get him. He is ready to come home. He has a bunch of questions for Dr. D and we wrote them all down because he can be forgetful (which I was too after surgery). He has not taken any pain medicine since noon yesterday and is having no problems getting in and out of bed, slowly. He has been walking the halls. He still has an IV but that is only for antibiotics every six hours, so not too bad. He has a little swelling in his legs, feet and hands and hopefully that will be better once he gets home. He also got a drain after the second surgery and Dr. D pulled it out on Friday, well it has been draining a lot since then, the bandage could probably be changed every two hours!! That's another of the questions for Dr. D.
Really though, it is incredible how much things changed. It went from great on Tuesday (walking at 2:30 after open RNY) to really bad Tuesday night, to worse on Wednesday and into Thursday, and then a complete turn around on Friday and into the weekend, just amazing. I wish I had a picture to show everyone, though it is burned in my brain forever Very scary. The nurses were amazing and they really care bunches. Even if they weren't caring for him, they still checked in on him and told him they were thinking of him even after their shifts!! They really helped me through all of this too (as did my family and friends).
We realize how very blessed we are and how great it is to have such an amazing support here at obesityhelp and also at the support group meeting.
Again, thank you all so much and I will keep you posted when I get a chance.
Thanks again. Hugs to all.

YES!!!!
I am so relieved as I am sure many here are. This really struck home with me, not sure why. I could feel your pain, your sorrow and uncertainty. This is going to be a great Christmas for all of you! A true miracle has taken place.
Travis, obviously is a fighter, but I am sure he could not have done it without you there fighting with him!
Bless you both and your family!
Theresa
I told him this morning that someone that he didn't even know was posting and asking about him. That made him feel happy. When we got home I had saved all the answering machine messages and played them for him and I said "see how many people care about you and were wishing you well" and he said that he could actually feel it when he was in the hospital too, that many people were pulling for him and that really truly helped him get better.
Definitely some amazing miracles seem to happen at this time of year often, and we completely feel that we got one this year!!
By the way, he is home and in his chair and very, very comfortable and happy to be home. The dog missed him so much, he really hasn't left Travis' side all morning, that made his day too!! He had a little oatmeal (not even an ounce) and that made him happy too, better than water! I'm so glad to have him home, I'm having a hard time getting back to work!
Thank you all again.
