Just checking in...
Hi everyone. I haven't been on this board in a long time. Just thought I would update you all on my progress so far. I had my surgery on March 25,2004. As of yesterday I have lost 126 pounds!!!! I would still like to lose another 70 pounds or so.
Before surgery I had high blood pressure(1 med), type 2 diabetes(2 meds-3 times a day-plus checking sugar all the time), high cholesterol(1 med), and I was on anti-depressants(1 med). Since being in the hospital for surgery I have not been on any meds at all! I just take my vitamins everyday(multi-vitamin, calcium, b12, and i added hair, skin, and nails vitamin too). My hair loss was VERY bad for a few months but seems to have slowed considerably. Life is GREAT!!! I have had many people walk right by me without recognizing me, including my aunt!!
It was all definately worth all the pain, sickness, and the hassle with insurance. As far as food goes, I still (at almost 7 months out) cannot tolerate beef, chicken,or leafy green vegetables. I don't know if I dump because I haven't had any sugar, bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, or any of the like. I will eventually add some of the carbs back in slowly, but for now I'm just enjoying the ride.
Good luck to all of you who are starting the process, or playing the miserable waiting game. For all you recent post-ops-IT GETS EASIER!!!
I hope you all have a great day, and I wish you all luck, and more importantly strength.
