Well, I have lost 7 pounds on this new protein diet. I started off strong but have lost ground. I so much want to show that I can do better! I would like to lose more weight before I meet the bariatric doctor for the first time (which may not be till summer 05!) Anyway my dietician and PCP are happy with my progress but I know that in 4 weeks I will have to weigh in once again and I don't want a gain! Stress city!! I worry that I will once again feel like a failure! I keep telling myself I should be able to do this. I need to get myself back on track. Wish I had my weight loss tool to help me!! Wish me luck! Take Care everyone!

Hi there, I am going to go to the Maine Bariatrics Center at MMC with either Dr. Cobean or Dr. Wolff. I have met both of them at the support group meetings they have and am please with either one of them. I am on the waiting list and have been so for the past two months. I have been told this past week from their office that the wait is less than a year. In the meantime, I have seen my cardiologist, and a liver specialist. I go for a sleep study the first week of November. I am already seeing a dietician to try to lose some weight before the surgery. I will see the bariatric nutritionist when I get closer to my 1st meeting with the doctor. I heard from other people on this site that your doctor is pretty good so I am sure you are excited to get things rolling. Best of luck to you and keep me informed of your progress. As far as my diet is concerned I have not gained any of my weight back but I need to get the ball rolling and try to get more off. I decided not to let it get to me. As long as I can show some progress I will feel good about things. I have had difficulty exercising due to the weight but I am going to try to improve on that. They say you recover better if you exercise before surgery. Thanks for the encouragement. Lisa
