One month to go!
Hey all.... I have one month to go until I have my lap-band surgery, and I was wondering - what kinds of things did you do in the month previous that helped you for surgery? I know about the physical things we can do (exercise, eating right), but I am more curious about the mental side. How did you cope emotionally in this last month? How did you get your mind prepared for it? I must admit, I am not screamingly off the wall about the surgery - I just feel a calm acceptance and the knowledge that it is the right thing to do. Then again, I have greeted a lot of big things in my life with calm acceptance. Any particular rituals or things I should do in this month?
Thanks,
Heidi
Congrats on your upcoming surgery--it will be here before you know it! It's funny, I read your post and could not remember for the life of me exactly what I did from the time I got my surgery date until I had surgery. I think that I had researched for so long and waited so long to have surgery that I wasn't really nervous about it because like you, I felt that it was the right thing to do. So, I don't really have any great words of wisdom--but I did want to say congrats and good luck! Also, looking back on it now, I really wish I would have taken a few pictures the night before surgery and taken my measurements and then kept up with the pictures, measurements and journaling frequently throughout my journey--that is my biggest regret!
