Hi everyone! I'm coming to your beautiful state for vacation in the last 2 weeks of July and first week of August. My home base is Bangor and I wanted to know of some fun, touristy things to do around this area or do you have a special place that would be fun to see!! We're up for anything!! Shopping, sightseeing, driving and of course, lobster!! Thanks so much for your help and I'm getting so excited!!! Diane Bower aka DI from NJ

Living in Deer Isle, ME. I willl suggest you taking Route 1a to Bar Harbor, ME. There you can goto Acadia National Park. Also on the way you will drive thru Ellsworth, ME and Trenton, ME before you cross the bridge to Mount Desert Island there are alot of places on the roadside to purchase fresh lobster dinners. They even cook them outside in big steamers. More info on Bar Harbor can be found on the web. Have fun and good luck. PS- Its about a 1 and a half hour drive to downtown Bar Harbor from Bangor

HI, I hope you enjoy your vacation. In Rockland there is a Lobster festival the first week in August. August 4-8. I know the3 first day of opening it is free admission. They usually have a big artist playing during the festivities. Last year I beleive it was Aaron Neville. Check the web page if you'd like. http://www.mainelobsterfestival.com/ Janine

Diane--I think that Bar Harbor and Acadia park should be number one on your list. I've travelled the whole country and there is nowhere as beautiful as that. It is right near Bangor. Be sure to get your lobster at the roadside stands--not the expensive rest. where it is overpriced and tastes just the same. I miss Maine! Have fun! Lynda ME/FL
