hernia

I have one! I know everyone will say go see Dr. Clough. I can't do that, I don't like him and want nothing else to do with him. My doc wanted ME to say weither or not to see a surgeon. How do I know what to do? I wish just once she would decide something on her own, isn't that what doctors are suppose to do? I am scared and have the most terrible thoughts!! Knowing that there have been deaths even after surgery, and kent having his problem and that Shannon dying. When to go see the doc? When do I start to worry? (oops too late). See all that steam I'm venting? Well I guess thats it. No questions no ideas no brain !! Thanks for reading these rambles of a crazy lady. I am down to 262 and sometimes feel pretty good. But now I am feeling the hernia and am having pain around it. Everyone have a great summer, OK? Linda

Linda, if you're having pain around the hernia, see a doctor pronto. I had my hernias repaired by a surgeon in Fort Kent twice and everything went great. You don't have to see Dr. Clough for that, but do call you're primary care physician so that he or she can make a referral to a surgeon. Lulu

What happened to Kent was not anyones fault, it is just how his body reacted. Just like your hernia, it isnt your fault or anyones but if you do not get it treated you could really be jeapordizing yourself. Please get it seen to, it will only get worse and your recovery will be harder. Good luck! Theresa

Hi Linda, I have to agree with the others. Don't suffer with the pain. Your PCP can refer you to ANY surgeon that can take care of the hernia, not just Dr. Clough. Do some research on surgeons that do this type of repair, then make an informed decision, for your PCP to set up the appt. as soon as possible. Remember, any time a person is put under for surgery there is a risk, not just WLS. People tend to forget that. Also, you need to be comfortable with your decision, so do some research on the surgeon's available to you, don't suffer with the hernia(s). Take care, Cindy K.
