My surgery is Tuesday, June 14. We are traveling from Portland Area to Bangor and my Husband will be spending the time with me in the hospital. My 12 year old son will have to stay home with relatives only because I wouldn't want bordem to set in durring the hospital stay. He has been very upset lately to the point of vomitting , this is all because of nerves. I can't seem to convince him that things should go as normal and I'll be fine. His name is Nick and he's writting this with me now, if ayone has some words of advice or encouragement for him this might just give hime the peace of mind he's looking for.

Hi Terri and Nick You know Nick, after surgery your mom will be sleeping alot. It is probably going to be very boring for you. I know my hubby had to do different things to keep busy. Otherwise the clock hands were so slow. If you're home, you will be the first to hear the news how mom is doing and you will be able to share with everyone. I went into the hospital on a Friday morning and was out Monday morning. She won't be gone long. I hope this helps a little. Thinking of you. Nancy

When I had surgery my hub came with me but because the kids were pretty worried and wanted to see me for themselves he went all the way home which is 2 hours away and brought them up to see me. After being there a half hour they were so bored. They said if they had known I was doing that good they would have stayed home. Good luck!! Theresa

Dear Terri and Nick, Hi, my name is Sam. I had surgery in March. I have a 2 year old daughter who I had never been away from. Trust me Nick, as a mom, your mother is going to be 10x more nervous about leaving you than anything else. I think you should concentrate on all the AWESOME things you guys are going to be able to do together after your mom's recovery. I live right in the Portland area as well and know that once fall comes, my butt is going to be at EVERY fair with my daughter AND going on the rides instead of jus****ching. Maybe while your mom is in the hospital, you could make a list of all the things that you want to do with her that she has not been able in the past few years. I am always around if either of you need to talk. [email protected] please feel free to email me. Good Luck, will be thinking of you both! Sam

Hi Terry I am just looking into this.. but couldn't help notice your and your son's post. Nick is my son's age and when I was talking about this to my husband my son said don't have it mom... tears came when I read about your son... I hope all went well with you and I can't wait to read how everything went with you. Praying for you and Nick!! Marlene
