I was reading the posts about MaineCare. May I ask what it is? Wow, some of you pay equal or close to equal what I bring home a week. I only bring home $150. I pay $40 per week for health insurance. Why won't my insurance company won't pay for this? They won't pay for me to see a dietitian or anything to help me get healthy. Yet they cover my depression and blood pressure meds. Go figure

Hi, Here's a link where you can find information on MaineCare and learn a bit about what it is. http://www.state.me.us/dhs/bfi/MaineCare.htm Your insurance must have a policy booklet explaining what they cover/don't cover and why/why not. Ask them for more information about your denial, I would think they are required to provide you with something explaining their decision. Goodluck, Casey

Their reason is that they don't cover the surgery. And yes, that is what it says in the book. However they must make exceptions because I work with two people that have been approved by the same insurance company. Also I searched the name of the insurance company on here and I saw many people post that they were approved easily and quickly.

Sounds like your employer has the exclusion. That is how it works with many. The insurance will provide it, but the employer asks for the exclusion to save money or whatever reason.

As I said...I work with two people with the same insurance and they covered their surgery.

I worded my reply to you wrong. Sorry. What I was trying to say, but really screwed it up was.............. maybe your company now has an exclusion. Possibly your co-workers had surgery before the exclusion was put in. Another thought I had is that is there a chance your employer offers to different levels of insurance? I know where my hub works there are 2 different insurances PLUS each insurance has different levels you can chose from. Of course they all cost different also. Anyway, just a thought. Theresa

Making $150 per week, I would guess that you just may qualify for MaineCare (medicaid). I looked up the number to the Caribou office and it is 493-4000. It won't hurt to try.. ps: is there a first name we can call you? lol Kell
