On may 23,2003 I started this journey, it has been a year dealing with Cigna and finnaly an approval!! My surgery is scheduled for June 15 With Dr. Clough, can hardly believe that it has all come together. I read the posts everyday but haven't participated much, I was a silent sufferer with my Cigna ordeal but would love to help anyone who needs advice dealing with them. A lot of my questions have been answered just from reading other posts, it is very encouraging. I will be having open RNY does any one know if you need to have a catheter put in I look forward to being a more active participant in the message board Thank you, Terri B.

Terri, Congratulations!!! I am happy your ordeal has finally come to an end. Dr. Clough is an excellent surgeon. He doesn't regularly do a catheter, he prefers you are up and walking as soon as possible after surgery. If you want one, check with him to see what will be done. We are here to support and answer questions when able so please post anytime. I don't know if you've seen my profile, or want to but I can tell you that the program at EMMC is excellent. And that I had surgery last June. Starting weight of 240 now I weigh 120. There's alot of work involved but well worth it. Goodluck, Casey

Oh wow, you didnt have to suffer in silence, we would have moaned, groaned and even about it a bit for you. It is wonderful you are approved, Casey said it all about the catheter and such. She knows her stuff and when I need someone to ask questions of she is always there. I have had catheters before and though they arent much fun to have put in, once they are in place they arent much, not after that first pain killer after surgery anyway. I am still glad Dr Clough didnt use one for me wls. June 15th is right around the corner, amazing how fast it is happening isnt it? After all that time it just POPS up and here it goes. You are on your way to being a BIG BIG LOSER!!! Get ready!! I do hope to see you posting more often and maybe we can even meet at a support group sometime! Good luck! Theresa

Terri, Congrats on your surgery! I had to have a catheter because I couldn't walk after surgery. But that's just me! Again. Congrats!! Kell
