feeling weak
I am 3 1/2 months out now and have lost 75 or so pounds. There are some mornings that I feel weak. For breakfast I drink 16 oz of skim milk and have a Blue Bunny high protein yogurt. Total protein of 24 grams. At about 10 am I feel weak and then eat a string cheeze stick or whole wheat cracker with Kraft Easy Cheese from a can, protein 7 grams.
The afternoons I feel fine most of the time.
How many of you were feeling weak at 3 months? How long did it last? Is it protein or just our bodies playing catch up? I don't have time to work out at a gym. I do walk a mile when I have time.
Thanks
Ron
Hi Ron,
I see you are making ok choices as far as protein goes but you do need to be having fruit, veggies and some whole grains. The concept of having high protein meals is good but you do need to have carbs to give energy. It takes our body more effort to burn protein foods so being weak is a common feeling from that. Also the ketosis. And the general feeling of weakness most people have post op.
What is you activity level? You really should be exercising if you want to feel good. Dr. Clough will be the first to tell you along with Dayna that exercise is key. So make time for yourself. You are worth it.
Casey
Hi Ron,
You may want to check into what you are eating before going to bed. I found that I wasn't eating enough to last through the night which is what made me feel a bit weak in the morning.
The yogurt & soft foods are good, but as our bodies are burning at a high rate, the soft foods digest faster. Like Casey said, get some vegies and whole grains in, it will help your body to have something to work on.
If you continue to feel weak after trying this, get a hold of Dayna and see what she has for more advise to help you out.
Hugs,
Cindy K.
Ron: I had this feeling about a month ago. And, for me it seemed to be my body catching up. I wonder if you are eating enough. Have you tried a srambled egg in the morning with a piece of wholewheat toast? I find it filling and it seems to last a while. Can't eat it all but enough to feel full. When I need a snack, I am doing a green apple sliced up that I take to work so when I have that sense of weakness--for me that helps. Sometimes it might be two peanut butter filled crackers. I don't follow a low fat or low carb diet--I jus****ch what I eat overall and try to get in enough veggies and fruit along with the protein. In my quest to want to lose weight--I have found myself--not eating enough or cutting back on food--and having just met with Dayna--- she encouraged me to eat more--in variety and more balanced. I'm only a couple of months out ahead of you--and I was eating more at breakfast at three month. This whole thing will not work without a lot of exercise--not just when you have the time---you need to make it a priority in life--please do--you are worth it. Don't forget the vitamins and water too!!!!
The four lifelines for us at post op are protein, water, exercise and vitamins--they are interrelated and we cannot be successful with one out of four or two out of four--but must do all four!!!!!!!!!!!
Take care of yourself,
Jane
