Question, please?
To all who have had the laproscopic surgery - are you happy you had this procedure done? Any regrets? I know this is a drastic answer to my inability to lose weight and if you had this operation, you must have felt the same way I do - that this was your only answer. Just wondered after you had it done, if you are satisfied and happy with your decision. Thanks for any feedback.
Hi Lynda: Thanks so much for the information! My surgery date is May 17th and I am getting nervous, I guess! I have never had a chance to be "normal" and am looking forward to the new experience! I have friends in Bonita Springs and also Port Charlotte. Bet you folks are a lot warmer than we are at the moment here in Maine. Higher elevations are expecting snow flurries tonight! UGH!
I was wondering if you had problems when you came home as far as walking to the bathroom and walking around the house? I am alone here so am concerned about this. I plan on renting a chair that lifts you up because I hear you can't lie in bed because you can't get out of the bed. Thanks for any info on this and also for the encouragement! Dot
Dorothy-I had no problems getting to the bathroom or getting out of bed. I think that may be something that people with open struggle with more. I don't know if renting a chair will be necessary. I was not jogging around the house though! Your date is almost a year after mine--my date was May 12! It is exciting. Yes, our weather is tons better than Maine right now. I am on my way up to Boston and then North Conway for the week-end so I was just checking out the weather. YUCK! Lynda ME/FL
Hello,
I had open surgery on 2/26. I was in the hospital for 5 days w/ no complications. I would strongly recommend sleeping in a recliner if at all possible. I came home to my children, ages 4 and 2, and had no problem at all. The only regret that I have is that I didn't try harder on my own to lose weight. I was right at 40 bmi. I miss food. I'm still going through the "brain hunger". I loved going out to eat, and now go and have a small salad....not the same. Yes, I am 40 pounds lighter, but I should have tried smaller portions and healthier foods first. Good luck to you!

Dot....well you know me and that I did have the LAP RNY. You also know that I had some down times the first 4 weeks. Even at my most depressed, I have not once and one regret about my decision. I am so happy with the large amount of progress I have made in only a month. I have lost 43lbs and no longer have joint pain. It is hard, your brain likes to play games with you and there are days that you just don't get out of bed because you feel like crap. Keep focused on the outcome that you want. I am here for you if you need anything. Your time is coming soon!!

I had Lap RNY & I am absolutley exstatic that I did. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I had the surgery on a Fri. went homne on Sun. and was out driving on Tues. I have had no complications, and I am now down 123 lbs. I can walk, go up & down stairs & my can is now gathering dust.
I have my life back, & my life keeps getting better everyday. My son, almost 17, calls me skinny & gives my hugs all the time. My husband counts my ribs and giggles, he is loving it as much as I am.
With the loss of weight I have gained my confidence back. I am going to college full time. Right now I carry a 3.7 average & made the Dean's list. There is no way I would ever have thought that these oportunities would be mine for the taking.
Take care,
Cindy K.
Dorothy,
I am thrilled that I was able to have it lap. It sure made the recovery that much easier. I also, Keloid (scar really bad) and I usually end up with more problems from the scars then from the surgery itself, so with lap it made the healing process all the easier for me. I still have the thick ugly scars, but at least they healed easily where as if I had to have open it would have been a whole different ballgame.
If you have any questions, just let me know. I am more then willing to help out in any way I can.
Good luck with your Journey.
Hugz,
Pammie
