My family and I went shop...
My family and I went shopping at Walmart this weekend. DH and hub went one way, girls and I went another way.
While waiting for my turn at the deli my 10 yr old started asking me questions about things I eat, the why's and what fors. I am always very honest with her and hope she picks up on some of my better eating habits.
Well...........I did not know that I had an audience during this conversation. Behind us were these older ladies, not OLD but they must have been in their mid 60s. One clucked her lips and I looked at her. She said "I am sorry dear, but it is just so sad someone your size feel that you have to watch your weight so carefully. You need to be out there enjoying life and not worry so much. You are much to thin to worry so much." This is almost an exact quote!!!
I looked at her, looked at my daughter and then we both cracked up laughing. The ladies looked stunned. I was not sure what to say, but DH walked up just then and when I looked back the ladies were gone.
I am NOT thin, but then again I guess I am not exactly fat anymore. DH and most others agree that where the last of my weight is, is in my upper legs and thighs. Of course the rest of the body can use a bit more off but not much.
I hope I did not hurt the ladies feelings, I know she meant well, but it just struck my funny. Also, the look on my daughters face was hilarious. She looked so shocked at what the lady had said.
I also found out that my ring size is a 4.5. Smallest it ever was before was a 4 3/4. 9 month ago I was at least an 8. So many unexpected things happen on this ride!!
I almost forgot, I am now 7 lbs from goal and 12 lbs from my personal goal. I just may make it after all.
Have a great day!

Teresa,
I got such a kick out of your message. I can remember going to Weigh****cher meetings and seeing "thin" people there and wondered why they were bothering with the program at their size..and finding out that they had once been very large...it just goes to show..we don't always know what we are looking at do we?? lol.. And besides, healthy eating is always the way to go no matter size or age ..
Congrats!!! on your weight loss and I know you will make goal before you know it.. Have fun on your trip to Florida...I went last month..and my tan is slowly fading.....
Take care,
Sharon

That was a great experience at Wal-Mart Theresa. I've followed your progress and you've done great! It's wonderful that you share so much of your wls experience with us. I know I find a lot of comfort from what you post!
I had a not so great experience at Wal-Mart today. I finally broke down and went to buy myself a new pair of jeans. I picked out 4 pair of different brands all size 20 petite. While I was looking for a shirt, this family of a mom, teen daughter and grandmother stopped where I was looking and the mom said," God, these clothes are hugh!" I looked up at them obviously with the look of disapproval and hurt on my face and said, "Thanks, that was really tactful of you!" They walked away. There I was, thrilled to have lost 100 pounds and down from a 30/32 to a 20 and these women with a few careless words just stole the moment from me.
Anyway...when I got home I slid into my 20's with room to spare and modeled them for my children and husband....my 9 year old daughter came up and put her arms around me and said,"Mom, I can fit my arms around you now! You're so skinny!" Made my day.
Take care and God Bless...and keep on posting! You're truly my inspiration.

Sue,
Some people are just ignorant and have no class. I can't believe the Mother didn't straighten her daughter out and I mean the Grandmother straightening her duaghter out too! Tacky, tacky people.
Your daughter was right though. She made your day! Sounds like you did the right think by her. Good job!!!!!

Ok, I know we aren't supposed to swear on here, BUT...some people are just plain ********! I am so sorry that happened to you, but what your daughter said did bring a tear to my eye. You are lucky to have such a loving family.
It really proves that what you look like outside doesn't change what you are inside.
