So I just found out that I have gastritis, and I dont know what it all means, but I hope it doesnt interfere with my surgery! Has anyone else had this? Is it curable, and were you still able to have the surgery with it? If this is what stops me from having my surgery, I will be so upset! Any feedback will be helpful! Thanks, Amber

Hi Amber, I'm guessing your gastritis is caused by H. Pylori, if so you should be prescribed a combination of medications to cure the infection. I know this only cause it happened to me too. It wasn't a big deal, my surgeon likes to treat the H. Pylori but some surgeons don't bother. Although I offered this info you will want to talk to your surgeon or someone in his program to see what they think about it. Things are so different with different surgeons. Goodluck! Casey

there area a lot of different reasons as to why you got gastritis. eatting to much mustard, going in an out of a freezer or cooler alot, advil if taken reguarly can cause gastritis. you can still have the surgery. but you should only have clear liquiards for the next couple of days and then start eatting light foods. Gastritis isn't any big deal I have had it several times since I was in high school. It can hurt like heck and cause you to vomit but it will get better. I have had it so bad that I would have to sleep in the fetal position to make the pain less. hope you feel better soon.

Hi Amber, Your best bet is to contact your family doctor & ask your question directly to him or her. That way you know the info that applies to you & he/she can answer all of your questions. Cindy K.
