Hi All I guess I have a few questions that I am looking for answers to regarding the weeks following surgery (RNY). I purchased some Atkins drinks that were suggested, along with some sugar free instant breakfast drinks. I've tried the Atkins, and find it pretty good, but am wondering if I'll be able to tolerate if after surgery. It contains 20 grams of protein, and we all know how important it is to get that protein in. When you start eating (and chewing, chewing, chewing, etc.) do you concentrate on certain foods? I am sure it's probably different for everyone. Give me some suggestions, so I may prepare ahead of time. And for those who are now seniors, how are you doing with your meal selections. I've heard different answers from different people. Some still eat the same foods as before but in moderation and some cannot tolerate any fat. I'll listen to any suggestions out there that may be helpful to me in preparation for my surgery. Happy Easter to everyone and hope you a wonderful day!! Nancy

Hi Nancy. The protien drink is great. Some people's tastes change after surgery so you may want to wait to buy more after and experament. I am only 3 months post op, and have stayed right on track so far. I feel if I venture out to unhealthy foods, my old habits may kick me in the rear. What you eat right out of surgery really depends on your surgeon. If you are having open with Dr. Clough, you will be on soft protien at first. As you see your dietician, she will work you up to "normal food". But again, thats how it was with me having Dr. Clough. Best of luck to you!! Kell
