Picking a doctor
What is a short limb bypass?
I'm not sure I would put my life in the hands of TAMC for such a major surgery.. NOT SAYING HE ISNT A GOOD DOCTOR, but I dont think they are medically equipped to handle any complications, God forbid there are any. If they ran into any kind of problem, more then likely you would have to be transported to EMMC or even MMC.
That is just MY opinion. Good luck in your journey!!

I have to say that I agree with Kelley. He has not been performing wls for that often and I don't know if I would take that risk in such a high risk surgery. Check out Dr. Michelle Toder who is a partner to Dr. Clough. I was told be some of the staff that she is one of the best in the state as well as the New England states. She performed my open RNY and I have to say she is quite the perfectionist which is what I like in my surgeon. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Good luck in you weight loss journey.
Lee,
I have Dr. Jimenez. After having all of my appointments completed, I chickened out of having it done at TAMC by a surgeon who did not have that much experience. So, I went to Bangor to sit through Dr. Toder/Dr. Clough's presentation. I had all my appointments scheduled only to have to cancel out the day before my first appointment. Why? Because I learned that there would be a problem with my insurance paying for an open bypass over 100cm (Clough won't go under 150cm bypassed) and my BMI was over what Toder would accept for laproscopic.
Am I nervous? Yes! Do I wish I had a doctor who had performed more than a dozen of these - Of course! Do I wish I didn't have to go to TAMC - you bet! However, I don't have the luxury of traipsing to Augusta (or beyond) for umpteen appointments - plus, I'm having it done lap (my preference) which my insurance doesn't seem to care how much they bypass as long as it's not open.
Good luck!
