Also new to the site
I have been reading along with you all for about 6 months, but just now decided I could brave my first post.
I have my neuropsych eval and nutritionist appt on 3/31 - Has anyone seen Dr. Slotnik? I'm just curious!!
I'm also curious about how long it may take from those appointments to the surgery. I just go a call from Dr. Cobean's office today (I was on his waiting list before hearing about Dr. Georgitis). They said they are ready to start the process with me. But, I feel like I'm already on my way and just want some input as far as what people think.
I'm a sponge right now, so any information I can get will be awesome. Thanks.
Welcome aboard!
I don't know how long it takes in Southern Maine, but up here in the Bangor area, from start to finish (without denials) it takes about 4 months, that's starting with the first information meeting, all the various doctors (psych eval, nutritionist, physical therapy etc), then surgery.
Best of luck to you, and keep us informed on your progress, and don't hesitate to ask questions of those that are postop. But, always check with your doctor.

Hi there,
Welcome to the site. Congratulations of making this decision..Like the others i cant answer for southern maine..IM pre-op and my first informationsal meeting was in January. I have one appt left. Then the consult with the surgeon. They told me a rough estimate for surgery would be around June...So that is a 6 month wait..IF It all happens right..LOL!! I know the wait is sooo difficult. More so once i received my appts. IT seemed like time slowed down just to make me wait..lol!! But Now that I have one appt left .IM like WOW!!! Where did the time go..LOL!! My nerves are beginning to wake...!!! I get a butterfly in my belly type feeling...when I think...Its Almost Time !!! Can't wait to hear how things progress with you....Good Luck!!!

I had my GBS at SMMC. Dr. Georgitis is wonderful! It only took me 2 months to get my appointment. It went by very quickly! I had open gastric bypass surgery w/ no complications. I was in the hospital for 5 days, and back to work in 2 weeks. The first 3-4 days aren't the most comfortable, but the pain meds will take care of that. It's so worth it! In the first month I've lost 22 pounds and feel so much better! If you have any questions at all don't hesitate to email me. Good luck to you!
