insurance question

happy friday all ,hope everyone is doing good ,i was wondering i sent out my papers to the surgeon yesterday and my friend said i should call the insurance company right after i send out the papers ,but im new to this and i have no idea what to say . i didnt realize i would have to call them .any ideas on what i should say to them ,im lost ,lol ,have a good weekend all marissa

What papers did you send out? Did you mean you sent them to the insurance company? If so then I would wait a week. It takes a day to get there, then a day or 2 to get in the system. Then of course they have to decide if it is a yes or no. Of course having said that, it also depends on your insurance company. Some a slower then others. Good luck either way, you are at the door step to the rest of your life. Theresa

hi theresa,im going threw smmc.and when we go to our first meeting which is the informational meeting ,we get a packet with papers to fill out and send back to smmc.which in return we sit and wait for a call from the surgeons office.my insurance i believe will cover it ,because my best friend had the surgery and she has the same insurance.but she told me when i send my packet back to call the insurance company .but im sure all hospitals and surgeons are different as far as how things are done.thank you for your reply . marissa
