Hi All, Just wanted to say that indeed I am home. Got home yesterday (Wed) and am trying to adjust. I definatley think I underestimated the amount of pain I would be having (lap rny) and that has been a difficult adjustment. I think its different for everyone, but I surely wasnt prepared, but am figuring it out. Today is better than yesterday, and hopefully everyday will get better from here on out. Want to say a special thanks to Jill who has really been keeping an eye on me! Thanks Jill, your support is greatly appreciated. I am doing ok on the liquid thing. Though I heard while in EMMC that ALL patients now regardless of lap or open will be given the strict liquid diet for the first 2 weeks. I really dont feel much like eating these first few days, but I bet next week when I post, you will hear me complaining!! Thankfully my wonderful hubby is here with my kids, who are 4 and 2 and totally dont 'get it' with me. They are off swimming right now. I am thankful for his help! Well this is about 4 more sentences then I thought I could write, so I must be ok! Take care, Kris

Great to hear you are home and doing well!! You are right, it is different for everyone. I did not think the pain from the Open was that bad. On the other hand, the weakness I had in the first 4 weeks was unbeliveable. Never in my life have I been that weak. I have not heard of anyone that went through it like I did. Remember, the first 2 weeks are the hardest, just when you start wondering what you did to yourself, things get better. I also agree with what you said about Jill. She is so darn sweet! Good luck and please keep us posted. Theresa

Kris, Glad to hear you are home. Theresa is right, the first 2 weeks are the hardest after that you will probably have days that you won't even feel like you had surgery. ****il you try to eat or drink anything LOL) Keep us posted on your progress. Take Care, Val

Kris, Glad to hear you are home and feeling pretty good. I am not a very good one to talk to when it comes to the pain thing because I really didn't have any--I asked for pain med when I first woke up from surgery and that was it. When I left the hospital, I didn't even get my prescription filled. The worst pain for me was when the pulled that JP drain out--I thought sure the nurse was ripping my intestines out through my belly button! The eating thing will get better too! Like I said, those first 2 weeks on all liquid suck to be quite honest, but it does get better. I can guarantee after the 2 weeks on liquid you will never want to see a can of soup or a packet of carnation instant breakfast again! Take care of yourself and if you need anything, let me know! Jill

Hi Kris, Happy you are doing well (?). As everyone else says, it does get better. I felt like crap for a long while, I tried to ignore it and remember that one day I would feel good and be alot lighter! Casey
