HELP FROM ANYONE POST -OP!!
Hi Shannon...your insicion is healing of course and it always itches...i used Benadryl cream didn't fully stop it but sure did help alot. I seem to still itch around my belly (not the incision) and my lower back does...i still use the Benadryl cream and lots of moistureizing cream.
Hope you find something to help...Good luck in your journey!!!!

Hi Shannon, and WELCOME!
I had surgery 1/6, and I understand itch. I used a moisturizing antibiotic ointment when I was all closed up and healing. It'll get better!
I was touched by what you had to say in your profile. It's so true for me as well the "mental" attachments that I had with food. It's tough. One day at a time for sure!!
Hope you are well!
Lauren
Thank you so much for the info, I was wondering if putting anything on it would stop the healing process but this morning I was so upset at the loss of sleep and the constant itching that I did try an antibiotic cream and it worked well enough that I was able to sleep soundly for 2 hrs! How are things with you since your surgery? Was it what you expected? the mental part I mean? Do you mind if I ask how your doing with the whole "mental issues" now? Has it subsided any at all?
Thanks ~ Shannon
Hi Shannon,
It seems you are at an icky dry skin time of year as well as having a huge gash healing...makes for an annyoing itch I'm sure. I wonder if you might be slightly dehydrated? Try to get at the very least six 8-ounce drinks a day more would be better. I don't know what lotions would be ok to put on it...you may want to call and ask your surgeon. I don't think mine was too itchy but I didn't have staples or anything and my incision was 5 inches so there wasn't much to itch I guess, lol.
Hope you're not so itchy...
Casey
