my profile doesnt show up
Hi Marissa, last month the state was trying to no longer cover gastric bypass, calling it an elective surgery & lumping it in with bunion removal & cir****ions. they have since decided they will not cut gastric bypass & it will be covered on a case by case basis, your doctor will just have to send for prior approval. Right now I am waiting to hear from MaineCare if they will cover my surgery, I was scared there for awhile & will only feel 100% secure when I get my approval. I had a visit with my surgeon on Wed & they said that MaineCare is pretty easy to get approval from so hopefully you & I will be all set Vikki
hi vikki, thank you some much for answering my message so quickly,i was really getting nervous there for a bit ,i wi**** was as easy as bunion removal or circumcision, lol, how long have you been waiting for an answer from mainecare?i go on thursday to see my pcp,so when i see him should i ask hin to get prior approval before i do anything else, you think?hope to chat with you ,and thank again for easing my mind a little i was making myself ill,lol .
your very welcome, I am glad I could give you the good news
I have only been waiting less then a week so not long at all although it is driving me mad with wondering how long it will take & if it will be approved. I would ask your pcp about the insurance approval but I believe your surgeons office has to be the one to send for the approval after you have passed all there requirements (nutrition, psych eval, etc) My surgeons office said that when they send for the approval they have to provide mainecare with the surgery date, where as I thought you get the approval & then they schedule the date. I would call your doctor & ask though...good luck & keep me posted on how it goes....hope to chat with you sometime
Hi Marissa,
I was thinking about having my profile spruced up too but I can't think of a theme I would want to stick with...if you want someone that knows HTML to do your profile just email an OH employee. They can direct you to their HTML staff. Unless of course you know how to do this yourself.
As far as the questions go...your surgeon should have a program you can get all your answers from (nutritionists, him, support groups, psychiatrist etc). I don't think there is just one place to find info. But all the stuff you read needs to be taken with a grain of salt. There is no one who can tell you what YOU will be able to eat, do, etc post op. Everyone is different and it matters how you handle your recovery/post op life.
What are your questions? I can try to help.
Casey
